“For 50 years, Lane and Ebeth have led Crossway in the proclamation of the gospel and the truth of God’s Word through the publication and distribution of millions of Bibles, gospel-centered books, tracts, and other resources,” presented Kuyper at the event.  “Their years of dedicated service have impacted countless lives for the sake of the gospel, delivering to current and later generations the great treasure of God’s Word through the English Standard Version of the Bible, as well as writings from some of the foremost voices of classic evangelicalism, including Francis Schaeffer, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, J. I. Packer, Joni Eareckson Tada, John Piper, and many others.”

“On behalf of the ECPA, Crossway, and the entire Christian publishing industry, we thank Lane and Ebeth for their faithfulness to God’s Word; their love for the gospel of Jesus Christ; their service to his church; and their commitment to bear witness to God’s truth, beauty, and holiness through their lives and the publishing ministry of Crossway.”

Bio for Dr. Lane T. and Mrs. Ebeth Dennis

Dr. Lane T. Dennis is president and CEO of Crossway. His wife, Ebeth Dennis, serves on Crossway’s board of directors and as senior vice president over the publishing ministry.

In 1938, Clyde and Muriel Dennis founded Good News Publishers as a not-for-profit publishing ministry. The Dennis family saw that tracts could play a strategic role in the church’s evangelistic work, and their young company was printing over 50 million tracts annually within the first five years.  Under the leadership of Dr. Lane Dennis, Clyde and Muriel's son, Crossway continues to distribute more than 16 million tracts annually to ministries and individuals actively sharing the gospel.

Lane and Ebeth also led the establishment of Crossway’s book division in 1979. Since then, Crossway has published more than 1,500 titles by evangelical authors including Francis Schaeffer, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, John Piper, John MacArthur, J. I. Packer, Max Lucado, and Joni Eareckson Tada.

Lane has served for over 50 years in Christian publishing, holding a PhD from Northwestern University, an MDiv from McCormick Theological Seminary, and a BS in Business from Northern Illinois University. He is the author and/or editor of three books, including Letters of Francis A. Schaeffer, winner of a Gold Medallion award. He has also held several leadership positions in the Christian publishing industry, including chair of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.

Ebeth was raised in India, the daughter of third-generation missionaries to that country.  Her love for God’s Word continues to make an impact both near and far. Her experience abroad and passion to reach the world with God’s Word has aided Crossway’s global ministry expansion, particularly in the distribution of tens of millions of Bibles and gospel-centered resources throughout the world.

Perhaps the most enduring legacy of the Dennises will prove to be the development of the English Standard Version of the Holy Bible. Under Lane’s leadership as chair of the Translation Oversight Committee for the ESV Bible, Crossway first published the ESV in 2001. In 2008, with Lane as the executive editor, Crossway went on to publish the ESV Study Bible, which was awarded the ECPA’s Christian Book of the Year award in 2009—the first Bible ever to receive that recognition.

Lane and Ebeth live in Wheaton, Illinois. They are the proud parents of eight children and grandparents of 33 grandchildren.

This is a publication of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.
