WESTMONT, IL– With more than one hundred thousand members throughout its lifetime, IVP’s Press-o-matic, which came to be known as the IVP Book Club, has been operating for fifty-seven of IVP’s seventy-five years, making it the longest-running book club specifically for Christians. IVP is now expanding on the history of the Book Club with the introduction of IVP Book Drop. This new monthly book club will provide resources for readers who want to grow spiritually, hear from diverse voices, and start powerful conversations on today’s most important cultural topics.
Lorraine Caulton, director of creative and customer engagement for IVP, said that the IVP Book Club has always provided relevant content for Christians. However, changes in the industry, the rise of social media, greater awareness of diversity, a decline in church attendance, and greater global consciousness caused her team to think about another option. “We didn’t want a replacement to the IVP Book Club but instead wanted to provide an alternative that provides excellent content for who we are and the world we live in now,” Caulton said.
Justin Paul Lawrence, IVP’s vice president of sales and marketing, said, “IVP Book Drop is the latest innovation from IVP to get our resources directly onto the book piles of readers. While our longstanding Book Club and set collecting programs are continuing, I’m glad that Lorraine Caulton and her team were able to create this new way of reaching and blessing readers.”
The IVP Book Club has traditionally included two new IVP books every four weeks for subscribers, plus a thirty percent discount on other titles. IVP Book Drop subscribers will receive a new title each month. The books will be thoughtfully selected resources written by emerging voices and well-known figures who are diverse in both ethnicity and gender.
The first title that IVP Book Drop subscribers receive is the award-winning Reading While Black: African American Biblical Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope by Esau McCaulley.
