WESTMONT, IL—InterVarsity Press (IVP) has announced that Rachel Hastings has been appointed associate editor for IVP Academic.
Hastings joined IVP in 2021 as assistant project editor and was soon promoted to associate project editor for trade books. In the role of associate editor for IVP Academic she will be leading acquisitions and the development of academic books in biblical studies and related fields.
“Rachel has already been working on a number of academic titles this year, and frankly she simply rose above the top among the applicants at every stage of our rigorous selection process,” said Jon Boyd, associate publisher and academic editorial director at IVP. “If you’ve noticed all the job postings from IVP lately, most of which are for freshly created positions, you’ve seen how we’re growing. In this key position, Rachel will be a big part of the future we’re building with IVP Academic.”
Hastings has two master’s degrees, one in Old Testament and one in New Testament, from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and she was the recipient of the Gordon-Conwell’s New Testament and Greek Award in 2020. She also worked in the admissions office at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary for five years, overseeing enrollment management initiatives in the southeast region.

In addition to her graduate studies, Hastings has worked closely alongside her husband in full-time ministry both stateside and overseas in Cape Town, South Africa. They currently live outside Chicago with their three children.
