New leader arrives from senior executive role at partner Bible Society, inspired by ‘transforming hope of God’s Word’
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., June 15, 2018 — Biblica (www.biblica.com), The International Bible Society, sponsor and copyright holder of the world’s bestselling English Bible, the New International Version, has announced the appointment of ministry leader Geof Morin as its new CEO.
Currently senior vice president, ministry mobilization with American Bible Society, where he has served for 11 years, Morin will start his new role with Biblica on August 31.
“I am thrilled to join the Biblica team, serving with our national and global partners to bring a waiting world the transforming hope of God’s Word,” he said.
Morin’s appointment comes as Biblica approaches the 210th anniversary of its founding and the celebration of a rich legacy of Bible translation, access and engagement around the world. This global work includes a current portfolio of 83 translations, including the New International Version (NIV). Biblica strategically works with global partners to ensure they have the Word of God available in contemporary formats, which suit their ministry needs, through a variety of innovative formats.
Rob Gluskin, board chairman for Biblica, said: “We are excited to welcome Geof and his leadership background, ranging from church and ministry start-ups to his extensive knowledge of the Bible agency arena through his work with our partner, American Bible Society. The entire board of directors looks forward to Geof leading us as we begin our next 210 years!”
Morin has spent most of his working life finding new ways to share the message of the Bible. Joining American Bible Society as director of marketing and communication in 2007, he later became chief communications officer before being named senior vice president in 2014.
During his American Bible Society tenure, he helped lead major branding and Bible advocacy initiatives, and deepened new translation and international ministry partnerships. He also played a key role in American Bible Society’s 2015 move to Philadelphia from its longtime headquarters in New York City, including leadership for a forthcoming, immersive Bible experience on Philadelphia’s Independence Mall.
Morin began his career as an assistant account executive with global advertising firm Saatchi and Saatchi, before turning to the world of ministry. He served with youth and community outreach programs and a philanthropic research and consulting firm prior to joining American Bible Society.
An ordained minister and avid runner, Morin is to relocate to Colorado Springs from his current home in the Philadelphia area. He and his wife, Rachel, have two daughters.
Since the NIV was first released in 1978, it has become the most widely read contemporary English translation on earth, with more than 1 billion copies in print. The NIV has been widely commended for its accuracy and accessibility.
Though it is Biblica’s most well-known resource, the NIV is only part of the organization’s work. Founded in 1809 as the New York Bible Society, Biblica currently stewards 83 translations of the Bible, focusing on the top 100 strategic languages of the world.
During the past two centuries, the organization has also helped pioneer many forms of Bible distribution, from giving free Bibles to immigrants and soldiers to providing them in hospitals and prisons, and using the latest technology to make God’s Word more widely available–from braille to audio and digital editions.
