Carol Stream, Ill. (March 22, 2024) — Tyndale House Publishers (@tyndalehouse) announced that Matt Forté will publish his book My Hair Can with Tyndale Kids on September 3. In his debut picture book, Forté reminds children that they are all equally made by God with hair textures and styles that are a unique expression of their identity. My Hair Can is an encouraging reminder for young readers about loving themselves, respecting others’ differences, and celebrating their God-given uniqueness.
Matt Forté was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Over his ten-year career, he ranked eleventh overall, made two Pro Bowl appearances, and remains one of six running backs in history to record one hundred plus receptions in a season. Outside of his football accolades, Matt serves in a leadership role in a ministry for professional athletes, and he founded the What’s Your Forté Foundation, which invests in the equitable economic advancement of youth and families.
In sharing about his upcoming children’s book, Matt said, “This book is so special to me because it came to me out of a painful experience my daughter incurred at school. So Nahla and I decided to turn pain into purpose and create something that children, families, and all people can be inspired by.”
Tyndale Kids associate publisher Linda Howard shared, “We are thrilled to partner with Matt to publish this sweet book! Our hope is that each reader will be reminded just how special and unique they are—just as they are.”
My Hair Can is being simultaneously released in Spanish under the title Mi Cabello Puede.
