Ada, Mich. (March 17, 2026) — Baker Publishing Group joins Christians around the world in mourning the loss of Dr. John M. Perkins, who passed away on March 13, 2026, at the age of 95. A towering figure in evangelical Christianity, the civil rights movement, and the pursuit of racial reconciliation, Dr. Perkins leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shape the church for generations to come.
Baker Publishing Group has been privileged to serve as a publishing home for Dr. Perkins throughout his writing career. His breakout book, Let Justice Roll Down, was published in 1976 by Regal Books—now part of Baker Publishing Group. His books challenged readers and the church to move beyond comfortable faith toward a gospel rooted in justice, community, and reconciliation.
Baker Books published ten of his titles including Beyond Charity, Restoring At-Risk Communities, Follow Me to Freedom, and Dream with Me.
“We at Baker are proud to have been able to play a part in amplifying Dr. Perkins’s voice and message,” said Jesse Myers, CEO of Baker Publishing Group. “His life and work were deeply infused with the gospel, and he has left a remarkable and durable legacy.”
