Carol Stream, IL (August 31, 2026) — Tyndale House Publishers (@tyndalehouse) is thrilled to partner with The Promised Land, a hit biblical mocumentary series, in a shared mission to make biblical truth available to all. Acquired by Kara Leonino, associate director of acquisitions and curriculum, and edited by Carol Traver, director of content development, the official Bible study will be published by Tyndale to accompany season 1, allowing the audience to engage with Scripture on a deeper level while watching the comedic retelling of Moses’ story.
The Promised Land was created by Mitch Hudson, who began writing scripts while working as an assistant director on The Chosen. Hudson desired to capture the humanity, humor, and awkward realities of Moses’ story, all while honoring Scripture. The modern mockumentary style of the show has resonated with viewers by bringing biblical characters and stories to life in an accessible and engaging way.
Season 1 has become wildly popular, with over 33.6M impressions since the pilot premiered on The Promised Land YouTube channel in July 2024. This month, the production announced a new partnership with Lionsgate TV, which will be the main distributor for upcoming seasons, allowing even greater reach and audience participation.
“The Promised Land had me hooked from the pilot’s cold open. On the one hand, it’s all the things you want in a show—it’s smart, clever, and absolutely hilarious. And on the other hand, it’s something you didn’t even know a show could be—deeply faithful and reverent toward the God of the Bible and the spiritual journey of his people, while gently and warmly laughing at our human foibles, failings, and frustrations,” says Sarah Atkinson, vice president and publisher of Tyndale books and alliances. “When I watch an episode of The Promised Land, it makes me open my Bible and go back to the source text—and we are delighted to be partnering in the creation of a Bible study to help viewers of the show do just that.”
“We are incredibly excited about our new partnership with Tyndale,” says Richie Johns, producer of The Promised Land with Milk & Honey Studios. “As one of the world’s largest independent Christian publishers, Tyndale shares our passion for helping people creatively engage with the Word of God. The Promised Land was created with the hope of inspiring people to open their Bibles, whether for the first time or the hundredth, and this partnership is an exciting next step in helping our audience discover God through the story of Moses in a fresh and meaningful way.”
The first Tyndale Bible study, Walking the Wilderness Together, will accompany season 1 of The Promised Land and feature six sessions taking readers on a fun, faith-filled journey through the book of Exodus.
Coproducer Bethany Johns says, “In a world that feels increasingly lonely, we believe the story of Moses, and The Promised Land season 1 in particular, invites us to consider both the beauty and the challenges of living in community. Through this study, we hope people see that when we choose to submit ourselves daily to God and walk alongside one another in faith, miraculous things can happen.”
