BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Holman Reference, a subsidiary of B&H Publishing Group, and the Pillar Network have partnered to release a series of books they hope will “equip pastors and church leaders with sound doctrine as they advance the gospel.”
“Biblical Authority” by Andrew Davis and “Gospel-Proclaiming Churches” by Dave Kiehn, both releasing Sept. 1, 2026, are the first of six volumes in the Pillar of Truth series. Dwayne Miloni and Nate Akin serve as editors.
“Healthy churches are built on biblical convictions that shape everything they believe and do—not simply on programs or ministry strategies,” said Andy McLean, publisher for Holman Bibles and Reference. “In partnership with the Pillar Network, we created this series to help pastors and church leaders articulate and live out the convictions that give a church its biblical identity, from the authority of Scripture and the centrality of the gospel to expository preaching, elder-led congregationalism, and confessional unity.”
“Biblical Authority” seeks to anchor every part of life in the trustworthy authority of Scripture during a time of moral confusion, while “Gospel-Proclaiming Churches” models how to make Christ’s work on the cross central to all aspects of church life.
“At the Pillar Network, we seek to aggressively advance the gospel by starting and strengthening churches, because that is the New Testament pattern,” said Nate Akin, executive director of the Pillar Network.
“Yet that mission must be built on sound doctrine,” he said. “The best missiology flows from healthy ecclesiology because the church is ‘the pillar and foundation of the truth’ (1 Tim. 3:15). Thus, the sturdiest Pillars are most impactful in the Great Commission.”
The Pillar Network is “a global community of Baptist churches that are doctrinally aligned, missionally driven and joyfully connected for the purpose of equipping, planting and revitalizing churches.” B&H Publishing Group is an imprint of Lifeway Christian Resources.
“From the beginning, my hope for the Pillar Network has been to see healthy churches cooperate to start and strengthen like-minded churches for the glory of Christ,” said Milioni, founder and chairman of the Pillar Network and senior pastor at Open Door Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. “My hope is that these books, written by faithful pastors, will strengthen churches to embrace their calling as God’s household and to faithfully advance that truth together.”
Four more volumes in the Pillar of Truth series are planned for 2027 and 2028, each highlighting one core value of the Pillar Network.
“This series highlights the doctrinal DNA that unites our churches for faithful gospel advance,” Akin said. “My prayer is that these books will strengthen pastors and churches in these biblical convictions so that, by God’s grace, the boundaries of Christ’s church would become, like Spurgeon said, ‘commensurate with those of the world!’”
