Grand Rapids, MI—Our Daily Bread Ministries is hosting the ACCESS Conference at their office in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Thursday, October 17, and Friday, October 18, 2019. This event will bring Our Daily Bread devotional writers and editors from around the world together for a time of renewal and growth through insightful workshops, dynamic speakers, and engaging worship.
ACCESS is an acronym that reflects the core values and emphases of this event: Adoration, Communication, Collaboration, Encouragement, Sharing, and Sharpening. Attendees will build unity in their diversity through individual relationships and networking. The conference will communicate editorial essentials, provide encouragement for the writers and editors, emphasize expectations, and share tools to produce strong content for readers across the globe.
“The first ACCESS Conference in 2016 proved to be an inspiring and refreshing two days for both our authors and our editors. We look forward to gathering again this October, and pray that God will use this time to help us even more effectively meet our mission to make the life-changing wisdom of the Bible understandable and accessible to all,” said Tom Felten, Executive Editor for Our Daily Bread.
Each day will begin with a time of worship through music and prayer, as well as encouraging messages from Our Daily Bread authors Patricia Raybon and John Blase. The schedule also includes a panel discussion on “Writing for a Global Audience,” group discussions, and training on marketing and social media. A few of the joint session highlights are:
- “Mining the Text: Going Deep in 220 Words” by Sheridan Voysey
- “Communicating Ancient Wisdom in Fresh Ways” by Ken Petersen
- “Topics to Avoid or Explore” by Bill Crowder
- “How to Delight in Rewrites” by Monica Brands and Tim Gustafson
Our Daily Bread author Xochitl Dixon said, “During my first ACCESS Conference, the community prayer and worship kept my focus on God. The workshops and one-on-one meetings increased my confidence and equipped me to communicate more effectively. As I connected with others on a personal level, God reminded me that I wouldn’t be alone when I returned home to serve as a loved member of the Our Daily Bread Ministries family. I can hardly wait to see what God does during the 2019 ACCESS Conference!”
