B&H Publishing is proud to announce its acquisition of ethicist and author Jason Thacker for a trade book tentatively titled “Following Jesus in the Digital Age,” set to release on June 14, 2022.
In his new book, Thacker challenges readers to consider how technology is shaping their spiritual growth and aims to equip them to navigate the most challenging aspects of digital culture with biblical wisdom. He teaches that God indeed calls his people to step into the challenges of the digital age from a place of hope and discernment, grounded in his Word.
“My hope with this book is to provide the church a resource to make sense of an ever-changing digital culture and to gain biblical wisdom to navigate the most challenging aspects of technology and social media,” Thacker said. “We often fail to see how technology is shaping not only our own walk with Christ, but also our churches and communities in ways that are contrary to our faith. ‘Following Jesus in the Digital Age’ is designed to equip readers to wade through issues of fake news, conspiracy theories, digital surveillance, online privacy and more. I am thrilled to be working with the team at B&H on this project, as they seek to provide biblical resources for the church in this digital age.”
Thacker’s contract was negotiated by his literary agent, Erik Wolgemuth of Wolgemuth and Associates, with worldwide rights.
“Everybody knows we live in a digital age, and thoughtful minds know this poses some serious challenges to our discipleship,” said Taylor Combs, associate publisher. “Jason Thacker has been leading the way among evangelicals to meet these challenges, and we’re thrilled to bring his work to the church with this timely resource.”
Thacker is the chair of research in technology ethics for the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) of the Southern Baptist Convention. He is also the author of “The Age of AI: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Humanity,” and his work has been featured at “Christianity Today,” The Gospel Coalition, World Radio, Slate and Politico. He writes and speaks on various topics including human dignity, ethics, technology, digital governance and artificial intelligence. He is the host of the “WeeklyTech Podcast” on the ERLC’s podcast network.
