BroadStreet author celebrates 500th episode of Live Hope Minute radio feature
Coincides With Inspirational Daily Devotional
Smeby Releases “Live Hope” Theme Song to Christian Radio
Minneapolis, Minn., Apr 11, 2018 — Reaching the milestone of 500 episodes of his nationally-syndicated daily radio feature, and the release of Live Hope Minute One Year Devotional (BroadStreet), Nashville-based Author/Musician Mark Smeby has chosen to mark the event in a creative way. “With the support of my radio feature by so many Christian radio stations, I decided it was time to create a theme song for those of us who are choosing to express our hope-drenched faith to the world.”
The result is “Live Hope,” a rally cry for believers to not succumb to hopelessness that surrounds us but to stand up with hope and live out the Gospel message. “As Christians, we have the inside scoop on true hope and where to find it. Yet many people are still waiting for hope to show up in their circumstances, instead of choosing to look at life with hope as the lens—to see life how God sees it. This song gives practical suggestions on how a believer can do this.”
To be brave, staring into unknown. To keep on, when it feels like it’s over. This is what it means to live hope. To get back up, when you’ve been knocked down. To reach out, when your past hurts so strong. This is what is means to live hope.
The “Live Hope” single is being serviced to radio by Riley Promotions (rileypromo@gmail.com) and is available to stations through PlayMPe. Smeby has also created a resource page for stations to read complete lyrics, watch videos about the song, and get more information about the Live Hope Minute feature at marksmeby.com/radio. “Live Hope” is also available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and all digital outlets.
Smeby adds, “As I’ve learned how a hope-saturated gospel message is what allows us to live like Jesus, it has made my Christian walk come alive with greater intimacy and stunning beauty—which is what I’ve been hoping for all along.”
The Live Hope Minute book is available for through livehopenow.com and all major online retailers, with Smeby promoting the book during his live events throughout the year. The Live Hope Minute radio feature is also available as a free mobile application for both Apple and Android devices, in addition to its availability as a podcast through Apple Podcasts and iHeartRadio. To get a free sample of the book, please text LIVE to 54900 (messaging rates may apply). For radio servicing of the Live Hope Minute feature, please contact Bev Singleton at Media Solutions at bsingle419@aol.com.
Mark Smeby is a Nashville-based author/musician/speaker who is all about hope—creating products, resources, and live events all focused around the topic of hope. He travels the country sharing the message of hope through his music and speaking engagements—in a variety of locations from churches, corporations, schools, and prisons. His nationally-syndicated radio feature, the “Live Hope Minute,” is heard on 250 outlets throughout the U.S., Canada, and South Africa. Smeby is also a spokesperson for Prison Fellowship International’s Children of Prisoners program (pfi.org). He has released seven music CDs including the companion CD project to The Messenger: A Journey Into Hope, his first published book in 2016 (BroadStreet Publishing). He’s also acted in co-starring roles for two episodes of ABC/CMT’s hit television series Nashville as well as the feature films Because of Grácia, 1 Message, The Perfect Gift, and The Hepburn Girls. BroadStreet Publishing book chosen as a 2018 ECPA Christian Book Award® Finalist
(Minneapolis, MN) April 12, 2018— BroadStreet Publishing is excited to announce that their children’s book, Farmer Herman and the Flooding Barn, has been chosen as a finalist in the 2018 ECPA Christian Book Awards for the children’s category:
http://christianbookawards.com/finalists.html.
Farmer Herman and the Flooding Barn by Jason Weber is a whimsical children’s book based on the true story of a farmer who called upon 344 friends and neighbors to help lift his flooding barn to safety. The story is used as an analogy that describes the desperate need for reform in foster care and the enormous potential to make a difference if we all work together.
Jason Weber, National Director of Foster Care Initiatives for CAFO (Christian Alliance for Orphans), wrote this book not only to raise awareness for the children in foster care, but to make a statement that anything is possible when you rally enough caring people in your community. The book further exemplifies this concept by using 344 people of all ages, each engaged in foster care in varying ways, to illustrate the book (a list of all of the illustrators and their artwork is included at the end).
For more information about Farmer Herman and the Flooding Barn, please visit
www.broadstreetpublishing.com or www.cafo.org/fostermovement.
Check out the fun book trailer here: https://youtu.be/kwnUD11hOuY.
The CAFO National Foster Care Initiative offers followers of Christ the opportunity to play a vital role in one day providing more than enough for kids and families in foster care in the county where they live. We connect individuals, churches and organizations for greater impact and create resources that encourage wise engagement in foster care.
The Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) powerfully connects more than 675 member churches and unites more than 190 respected organizations through joint initiatives that inspire and equip Christians to effectively live out the Bible’s call to care for orphans and vulnerable children.

Lysa TerKeurst’s No. 1 New York Times bestseller “Uninvited” surpasses one million copies sold
Message for women feeling the pains of rejection continues to impact readers across the country
Nashville, Tenn. (April 11, 2018) – In August 2016, Lysa TerKeurst broke through the unrealistically edited, social-media-driven noise to provide women a God-filtered truth: you are not the only one struggling with rejection. Passing one million copies sold is confirmation that Uninvited is speaking to a real need in her readers’ lives.”
The feeling of rejection can be crippling, and TerKeurst’s biblical wisdom and encouragement have connected with women of all ages and stages of life. Since Uninvited’s release, many of those women have reached out to connect with her on social media. TerKeurst now boasts over 1.7 million followers across Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Christian publishing professionals to gather in Nairobi for Magazine Publishing Institute
(Colorado Springs, CO) – Christian magazine publishing professionals serving in Africa are invited to attend the first of a ten-year program of training events to be offered by Magazine Training International (MTI). The first Magazine Publishing Institute will be held 30 September – 7 October, 2018, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The management track will be taught by Dr. Kirimi Barine, founder of Leadership Today Africa, author, trainer, publisher and coach; Lou Ann Sabatier, principal of Sabatier Consulting and strategic communications director for the 21st Century Wilberforce Initiative; and David Renard, a partner with mediaIDEAS, founder of Netcirculation, and co-creater of Stare. A few of the topics that will be covered include defining your purpose, increasing your circulation, and generating income.
Editing track trainers include Carla Foote, editor for Disciple! and One-to-One for The Navigators ministry; Camerin Courtney, senior editor for a nonprofit humanitarian aid organization, where she edits their quarterly magazine, blog, and other print and online communications; and Jeremy Weber, senior news editor at Christianity Today. A sampling of the topics include developing a magazine profile, solving manuscript problems, and the art of digital publishing.
The design track will be taught by Anne Elhajoui, creative director of Knight Marketing; Dr. Tamara Welter, associate professor and chair of the Department of Media, Journalism, and Public Relations at Biola University; and Rick Szuecs, designer for Man of Integrity. Topics to be covered include design on a modest budget, the magazine’s visual identity, and when and how to approach a redesign.
The Magazine Publishing Institute in Nairobi will be followed by training programs in West Africa in 2019 and 2020. Registration for the conference in Nairobi is now open.

Lon Allison shares his respect for the man and passion for his message in “Billy Graham: An Ordinary Man and His Extraordinary God”
April 4, 2018 — Less than two months after Billy Graham’s passing, Paraclete Press celebrates the life of America’s pastor with the release today of Billy Graham: An Ordinary Man and His Extraordinary God (ISBN 978-1-64060-087-4 / Hardcover / $21.99) by Lon Allison, with a foreword by Dr. Leighton Ford and Jean Graham Ford (Billy’s youngest sister).
“Lon’s compelling reflections of Dr. Graham’s life, ministry, and character give us an up close and personal acquaintance with one of history’s most significant proclaimers of the Gospel. Lon artistically weaves stories of his friendship with Billy in the context of Dr. Graham’s relentless passion to bring people to Christ.” —Joe Stowell, President, Cornerstone University
Allison—evangelist, pastor, and former director of The Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College—learned much from Billy Graham over the years. Allison retells the highlights of Graham’s fascinating life, but respects Graham’s desire to always be sharing the Good News, closing each chapter with a different form of personal invitation to the reader to discover God’s love and forgiveness in Christ. Every stage of Graham’s life is included, even the rough spots, with appreciation and a desire to answer the question: What was Graham’s message and how is it relevant for today?
An experienced teacher with a gift for explaining how everyday people can connect personally with the God who loves them, Lonnie J. Allison became Pastor of Teaching and Outreach at Wheaton Bible Church in 2013. Previously, he was Executive Director of the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College. Lon has taught master’s and doctoral evangelism courses at Gordon Conwell Seminary, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Northern Seminary, and is a visiting professor at Wheaton College Graduate School. He maintains an active speaking schedule at churches and conferences around the world, and is also the author of Going Public with the Gospel, That the World May Believe, and Possible: Discover the Joy of a Prayer, Care, Share Life. He and his wife, Marie, have three grown children and live in West Chicago, Illinois.
To interview Lon Allison or to request a review copy of the book, please contact Director of Marketing Laura McKendree at 800-451-5006 ext 316 or email lauram@paracletepress.com.
