Abilene, TX — On February 8, 2023, the Holy Spirit moved powerfully among the students of Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. This event ignited a spontaneous revival that lasted sixteen days. What began as a small gathering of students and staff lingering after chapel grew quickly into a global movement. The event attracted over fifty thousand individuals from around the world to experience God’s transformative presence in the Hughes Auditorium. During this time of vibrant, 24-hour worship, many individuals sought after counsel, confessed their sins, and reoriented their lives toward God.
While revivals have occurred throughout history, this event gained unprecedented attention due to the widespread use of social media and press coverage by both national and international news outlets. Cooperating with the Holy Spirit: Theological and Practical Reflections on the Asbury Outpouring by Rev. Dr. Suzanne Nicholson recounts the events of the Asbury Outpouring. It provides first hand insights into the spiritual movement; offers biblical, historical, and theological reflections on revivals and God’s redemptive work; and concludes with practical guidance for church leaders.
“For years, we’ll be discovering the thousands upon thousands of ways God moved through this outpouring. Having this journal of how it unfolded at ‘ground zero,’ told by voices who were there serving the cause, is such a gift to the Church. Their stories will help all of us connect and process our own experiences even as we continue to carry this fire out into the world.”
—Carolyn Moore, Bishop, Global Methodist Church, and author of Supernatural: Experiencing the Power of God’s Kingdom
