“The Miracle of You” celebrates the unconditional love of a parent and the uniqueness of each child

March 13, 2023 by Sheri Toomb

Lyrical picture book is a love letter to the child of your heart

Releases Tuesday, March 14

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For years, Cleere Cherry Reaves has made it her mission to help people recalibrate, refocus, and remember who they are in Christ through her successful gift line brand Cleerely Stated. Now Reaves provides families a message of hope to embrace the everyday miracles and to celebrate life as the greatest miracle of all with her debut picture book, The Miracle of You, releasing March 14, 2023.

When Cleere’s son was born three months prematurely, she and her husband watched as their child–their miracle–fought for his life, developed, and began to thrive. Inspired by this difficult journey, Cleere began to recognize that the miracle of her son’s life was also what taught her to celebrate the different miracles that surround us every day.

A poetic picture book, The Miracle of You celebrates the unconditional love of a parent and the uniqueness of every child among all the beauty of God’s creation. “Nothing can compare to the miracle of your child or the little hearts that you get to love. There truly is no greater miracle than the miracle of you!” said Reaves.

From the creatures that swim deep in the sea to the galaxies that reach far and wide, the world is filled with the color and creativity of God. Yet nothing compares to experiencing His miraculous design like the gift of the child He has given you. In The Miracle of You, Cleere’s poetic words speak for every parent and grandparent in awe at the God-given miracle of their little ones.

“My hope is that it will be a perspective shifter for parents, too. That although you have a million and a half things to do, you are reminded that getting to see those bright little eyes across from you is such an undeserved gift,” expresses Reaves.

A read-aloud book for boys and girls ages 4 to 8, The Miracle of You:

  • pairs heartwarming rhymes with whimsical artwork
  • teaches children that Jesus is the giver of miracles
  • is a perfect gift for a baby shower, baptism, baby dedication, child’s birthday, or Mother’s Day
  • serves as a stunning decorative piece in nurseries and children’s bedrooms; and
  • builds a healthy self-esteem in kids, focusing on who they are, not what they

The Miracle of You (ISBN: 9781400242108) releases on March 14, 2023, everywhere books are sold. Copies of the book and interviews are available upon request.

Seven IVP titles named Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards finalists

March 13, 2023 by Sheri Toomb

March 2023 | WESTMONT, IL—InterVarsity Press (IVP) is pleased to announce that seven IVP titles have been recognized as finalists in the annual Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards. Winners in each genre—along with the Editor’s Choice Prize winners and Foreword’s Independent Publisher of the Year—will be announced June 15, 2023.

As part of its mission to discover, review, and share the best books from university and independent publishers, Foreword Magazine Inc. hosts an annual awards program each year. Finalists represent the best books published in 2022. More than 2,500 entries spread across fifty-five genres were submitted for consideration. The finalists were determined by Foreword’s editorial team. Winners are now being decided by teams of librarian and bookseller judges from across the country.

IVP books were chosen as finalists in the following categories:

Adult Fiction, Religious

The Unhiding of Elijah Campbell: A Novel

In his first non-fiction works (Loveable, True Companions), psychologist Kelly Flanagan drew from clinical insight to explore the spiritual depths of identity and relationships. Now, in this debut novel, he weaves a page-turning and plot-twisting tale that brings new life to those insights, along with fresh revelations about personal growth, spiritual transformation, and the dynamics of interpersonal relationships.

Susie Finkbeiner, author of The Nature of Small Birds and All Manner of Things, said, “I knew from the first page that Elijah Campbell was a special character. Every chapter, paragraph, and sentence that I read proved me right. This novel is infused with gentle storytelling that reminded me of Wendell Berry, elegant prose that brought to mind Marilynne Robinson, and salt of the earth characters reminiscent of Leif Enger. The great delight that I found while reading, however, was what Kelly Flanagan brought to this story that only he could—a deep insight into what makes us human and how that makes us worthy of being seen and known.”

Adult Non-Fiction, Family & Relationships

Special Grace: Prayers and Reflections for Families with Special Needs

In the foreword Joni Eareckson Tada said, “If you live with disability as I do, you, too, will love Special Grace. . . . Messy, but beautiful. Gut wrenching, but wonderfully real. You’ll discover a new friend in Elrena Evans, a Christ-loving mom who invites you to join her as she kneels at the throne on behalf of her family with special needs.”

Special Grace is a collection of 127 prayers for all aspects of life for families with special needs. The book includes prayers for family life, school, and church; prayers for an initial diagnosis, for the first day of school, and for celebrating a milestone. Each section is set off by a reflective essay from Evans’s own family life. Filled with humor and wisdom, these prayers and reflections will help families process their experiences together and offer them to God with hope and simple trust.

Adult Non-Fiction, Autobiography & Memoir

Blood from a Stone: A Memoir of How Wine Brought Me Back from the Dead

“Adam McHugh is one of the most effortlessly funny writers I know,” said Susan Cain, author of Quiet and Bittersweet. “In his new work, Blood from a Stone, Adam combines his wit with a tender vulnerability to tell a story as poignant as it is funny.”

McHugh’s story is one of being forced to reevaluate and remake his life when things fell apart. But more than that, it’s a story about finding healing through the good gifts of wine, friends, and the beauty of wine country. He writes, “Most stories about religion and drink are stories of recovery. I’m not sure if mine isn’t a story about recovery too.”

Adult Non-Fiction, Business & Economics

Road to Flourishing: Eight Keys to Boost Employee Engagement and Well-Being

Al Lopus, cofounder and CEO of Best Christian Workplaces Institute, has studied hundreds of organizations to discover eight key drivers in companies with healthy culture and engaged employees. He gathers best practices from across a range of companies and ministries to demonstrate how people at all levels can work together to accomplish work that matters. Principles and real-life examples provide concrete ways that organizations can flourish by building fantastic teams, cultivating life-giving work, attracting and retaining outstanding talent, and much more.

John Pearson, board governance and management consultant and author of Mastering the Management Buckets, said, “Al Lopus doesn’t mince words when writing about the toxic work cultures he’s observed. But Road to Flourishing is also upbeat—you can create ‘life-giving work’ for every team member. You have two options: (1) continue to apply inappropriate Band-Aids to your sick workplace, or (2) go deeper and discover how your organization’s culture will flourish with God-honoring and intentional best practices. Reading this book with your team members is a no-brainer. Pick one: life-giving work or life-sapping work.”

“This is the Asian American discipleship book for the post-Trump, #MeToo, #BlackLivesMatter, post-Covid, AAPI hate era,” said Daniel D. Lee, academic dean of the Center for Asian American Theology and Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary and author of Doing Asian American Theology. “With their fingers on the pulse of this generation, Sabrina, Linson, David, and La show us what deep commitment to Christ looks like for young Asian Americans in their great diversity and complexity.”

Adult Non-Fiction, Political and Social Sciences

The Religion of American Greatness: What’s Wrong with Christian Nationalism

Paul D. Miller, a Christian scholar, political theorist, veteran, and former White House staffer, provides a detailed portrait of—and case against—Christian nationalism. Building on his practical expertise not only in the archives and classroom but also in public service, Miller unravels this ideology’s historical importance, its key tenets, and its political, cultural, and spiritual implications.

“I can think of no one more qualified to speak to the pressing issue of Christian nationalism than Paul Miller,” said Russell Moore, editor in chief of Christianity Today. “Despite the bleak subject, this book is full of confidence, conviction, and hope. Liberal democracy matters. The kingdom of God matters more. Those who care about either or both should read this work.”

Adult Non-Fiction, Science & Technology

A Christian Field Guide to Technology for Engineers and Designers

“Here is a rich resource for the early career engineer who needs help applying biblical truth to their technical endeavors in the workplace,” said Steven Lindsey, executive director of the Center for Faith+Work Los Angeles, retired Boeing systems engineering executive. “Through an excellent overview of important theological concepts, thoughtful design principles, and practical vocational wisdom, Brue, Schuurman, and VanderLeest explain how integrating faith and work in practicing engineering and creating technology provides endless opportunities to both glorify God and enjoy him. If only such a book had been around when I entered the workforce with an engineering degree!”

Veteran engineers and teachers Ethan Brue, Derek Schuurman, and Steve VanderLeest provide a field guide for fellow explorers working with technology. Using numerous case studies, historical examples, and personal stories, they explore issues such as biblical themes and passages that relate to technology, the ethics and norms involved in technology design, how engineering and technology tap into human dreams for a better world. Along the way they acknowledge the challenges arising from technology but also point to the wonderful possibilities it offers us and its ability to contribute to the common good.

“Dark Angel” by Andrews & Wilson named Audie Award Finalist

March 6, 2023 by Sheri Toomb

CAROL STREAM, Ill.—March 2, 2023—Tyndale House Publishers is pleased to announce that Dark Angel, the second installment in the Shepherds series by the bestselling writing team of Brian Andrews and Jeffrey Wilson, has been named a finalist for an Audie Award in the faith-based fiction or nonfiction category, by the Audio Publishers Association.

In Dark Angel, former Navy SEAL Jedidiah Johnson returns to Nashville ready to begin his training with the elite warriors known as the Shepherds. He thinks he knows what to expect when he arrives on the sprawling, state-of-the-art facility but quickly realizes he’ll have to find his place as the rookie leader of a new team. Then he starts having visions of an imminent attack overseas, and Jed and his team are dispatched to neutralize the threat. All the while, Jed hears whispers of another threat that raises fear and anger throughout the Shepherds organization.

Once a military man, Nicholas Woland betrayed the Shepherds and all they stood for when he joined their enemies. After years in prison, Woland is eager to get back in action spreading chaos and death. And he has been freed for a purpose: a sinister plot that will result in hundreds of casualties and incite worldwide religious warfare for years to come.

As Woland and the Shepherds race toward a collision, Jed must rely on his gifts, his training, and his untested team to make critical decisions on a global stage—never realizing that a secret servant of the enemy is growing closer and closer to him.

In response to this significant achievement, Karen Watson, publisher of Tyndale fiction, shared, “We are honored to be recognized for this award and grateful for the fine performance of MacLeod Andrews in the Shepherds trilogy. Beth Moore’s memoir, “All My Knotted-Up Life,” achieves bestseller status in release week

March 6, 2023 by Sheri Toomb

Carol Stream, Ill. (March 3, 2023) — All My Knotted-Up Life, Beth Moore’s captivating memoir, which released on February 21, 2023, from Tyndale Momentum, quickly skyrocketed to bestseller standing. In its release week, the title debuted at #10 on the New York Times Best Sellers Hardcover Nonfiction list and #11 on their Combined Print & E-book Nonfiction list. Additionally, the title ranked #3 on the Publishers Weekly Bestsellers list in the Hardcover Nonfiction category and #4 on Wall Street Journal’s Bestselling Books list for Hardcover Nonfiction.

In her greatly anticipated memoir, Beth Moore, beloved teacher, bestselling author, and founder of Living Proof Ministries, shares her never-before-told story to critical acclaim by Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, Kirkus, and Foreword Reviews alike.

All My Knotted-Up Life is Moore’s reflective, heartbreaking, and humorous memoir, detailing her tumultuous childhood in Arkansas and Texas, experiences that impacted her youth and her call to ministry, her rise as an influential Bible teacher and national ministry leader, her life as a mother and wife, and the upheavals that led to dramatic and unforeseen changes in the life she had come to know.

An incredibly thoughtful, disarmingly funny, and intensely vulnerable glimpse into the life and ministry of a woman familiar to many but known by few, All My Knotted-Up Life is a beautifully crafted portrait of resilience and survival, a poignant reminder of God’s enduring faithfulness, and proof positive that if we ever truly took the time to hear people’s full stories . . . we’d all walk around slack-jawed.

Publisher Karen Watson shared, “With a tone similar to Rick Bragg’s All Over but the Shoutin’, Beth’s wry observations and skill as a storyteller are on full display in this delightful memoir. She writes honestly and lovingly about the people and places and influences that turned a tiny, vulnerable little girl into the powerhouse of influence for the gospel that she has become. Readers will be captivated by the relatable and insightful story of her life.”

Moore reflected, “I saw this life of mine going differently than it has. I saw myself turning out better than I have. I expected to have more riddles solved. More people sorted out. More grays dissolved to black and white. I needed neatness from God. What I got was a tangled-up knot.”

Beth Moore is a New York Times bestselling author and teacher whose conferences take her across the globe. Beth founded Living Proof Ministries in 1994 with the purpose of encouraging women to know and love Jesus through the study of Scripture. She has written numerous bestselling books and Bible studies, including So Long, Insecurity; Chasing Vines; Breaking Free; and Now That Faith Has Come, as well as the novel The Undoing of Saint Silvanus.  In addition to her conferences, Beth can be seen teaching Bible studies on Living Proof with Beth Moore on the Trinity Broadcasting Network.  She and her husband of forty-four years live in Houston, Texas. She is a dedicated wife, the mother of two adult daughters, the grandmother of three delightful grandchildren, an active church member, and a dog-lover-to-the-death.
