Jeff Johnson retires from Tyndale House Publishers after 37 years
Tyndale House Publishers has announced that Jeff Johnson, Chief Administration Officer, will retire on September 29, after 37 years at the company. “Jeff Johnson has been instrumental in guiding Tyndale House Publishers and the greater Christian publishing industry during his many years of executive leadership,” said Scott Mathews, CEO of Tyndale House, “We are grateful for his contributions over the years and for all his efforts in furthering the mission of Tyndale House Ministries. He will be missed.” Johnson will continue to serve on the board of Tyndale House Foundation.

ECPA announces that Sally Sampson Craft will join its staff as Manager of Member Care. In that position, Craft will serve existing, new, and potential voting members and small press, international, and industry affiliates to foster strong member engagement and retention and to enhance the services ECPA offers to its community. Craft is the former Executive Director of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships at InterVarsity Press and will begin her new position at ECPA on September 5.

The ECPA PubU Online marketing track will be led by B&H Publishing Group’s marketing strategist for Trade Books and Kids Books, Whitney Alexander. Whitney joins the PubU Online Brain Trust, responsible for recruiting speakers and developing topics in each of the main training tracks: Marketing, Editorial, Design, Production & Operations, Children’s Books, and Rights & Licensing. Early Bird registration is now open for the online industry training and networking program, featuring daily webinars and meet-ups from October 27 to November 13.

Deadline for Top Shelf Book Cover Award entries is tomorrow
The nomination deadline for the Top Shelf Book Cover Awards is tomorrow Tuesday, August 15. ECPA members may submit entries published between June 2022 – August 2023 in four categories: Bibles, Fiction, NonFiction, and Children.
Registration opens for The Christy Award® online programming this fall
The Christy Award program will present the Art of Writing webinar series, plus the finalist and winners reveal webcasts featuring award-winning Christian fiction authors – weekly on Thursdays, from October 12 to November 16. Registration is now open for all events. The Art of Writing seminars, coordinated by Random House editor Jamie Lapeyrolerie, will cover these topics from authors, publishers and agents:
- Dispelling the Myths Around Christian Fiction
- How Great Books Can Improve Your Novel and Your Life
- Publishing Doesn’t Have to Terrify You!
- Going Deep with Award-Winning Authors
The program also includes optional personal-publishing-session add-ons for writers to get consultations from publishers and agents in a small group online setting. Limited space available.
