Tyndale House EVP/CFO Paul Mathews retires after 41 years; Scott Mathews named as new CFO
Tyndale House Publishers has announced that Paul Mathews, Executive VP and CFO, will retire after 41 years at the company. Mathews joined Tyndale House in August 1977 as an accounting assistant. He was promoted to role of controller in 1979, to corporate vice president in 1982, and to his current role as Executive VP, CFO in 1998. Tyndale has also announced that Scott Mathews has been named as the new CFO.

Zondervan announced Mick Silva today as the new senior acquisitions editor for Zondervan nonfiction trade books. Silva’s publishing experience includes writing and acquisitions for Focus on the Family and Waterbrook Multnomah. In those roles, he acquired memoir, self-help, marriage, parenting, Christian living, men’s interest, young family and teen books and developed ancillary products.

The Christy Award Gala to honor 100th birthday and legacy of Madeleine L’Engle, Nov. 7 in Nashville
The upcoming Christy Awards Gala, held the evening of November 7 at Lipscomb University’s Shamblin Theatre in Nashville, will not only celebrate the year’s best in Christian fiction by announcing the 2018 winners of The Christy Awards™ – but will honor the legacy of Madeleine L’Engle on what would be her 100th birthday. Sarah Arthur, author of the upcoming spiritual memoir of L’Engle – “A Light So Lovely” (Zondervan) – will present an inspiring portrait of how L’Engle’s faith and imagination fueled her storytelling and why she remains so relevant to us today. Other Gala presenters include authors Charles Martin, Francine Rivers, Carla Laureano, Cynthia Ruchti, and more. Sarah Arthur will also lead a session at the Art of Writing conference preceding the Gala, on “Learning from the Masters.” Registration is now open for the Art of Writing afternoon seminars and The Christy Award Gala for only $99 for both events. Sheridan increases its digital and inkjet print capabilities with the addition of two HP presses
Sheridan’s Pennsylvania print facility is adding two new HP presses to the production floor: an HP PageWide T240HD Color Print Inkjet system equipped with a Duplex Primer system and a Magnum InLine FlexBook Finisher, and an HP Indigo 12000 B2-format digital press.

LifeWay Global and its trade publishing division B&H Español were named Publisher of the Year, at the Spanish Evangelical Publishers Association (SEPA) Awards Banquet, held August 8 in Miami, Fla..
