PubU Online begins Monday with first live general session webcast: Publishing in a Time of Crisis
Christian publishing professionals are invited to register for PubU Online THIS WEEK in order to be a part of the opening live session with Dr. Theon Hill – gifted orator and professor of communication at Wheaton College – who will give us more energy and industry inspiration for a Monday morning than four cups of coffee in his webcast for OUR industry: “Publishing in a Time of Crisis.”
PubU attendees have access to all Track sessions, Master Classes, Keynote General Sessions, Forums, and Zoom Meet-Ups — for one low price of $99 for ECPA members and $129 for non-members. Never has the opportunity to improve your skills in the craft of publishing been so accessible and affordable.
UMPH plans permanent remote work arrangement
The headquarters building of The United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH) in Nashville, TN remains closed due to the coronavirus emergency. The John Dickins House offices have been closed and UMPH staff have worked remotely since mid-March, and the earliest the building could reopen is the end of September, contingent upon COVID-19 developments.

The annual Christian Book Award program will open for submissions next week on September 1st for its 2021 program. Nominations will be accepted in 12 book and Bible categories for titles published between October 2019 and October 2020.

PubU Online Spotlight: Data-Delivery-Workflow
Track to gather and train industry’s production professionals
The PubU Online program will include a track of sessions for production, data, and operations professionals, curated by Rebecca Burgoyne, Exec. Director of Operations for United Methodist Publishing House and Kathy Krenzien, Director of Operations for Gateway Publishing. The four webinars will be offered live each Thursday in September at 10 am central and will feature these topics and experts starting next week:
- Supply Chain: Paper & Manufacturing with Pete Larson (Bethany Press)
- Audiobooks: Creation to Sale with Cory Verner (ONE Audio) and Robin Erwin (Ingram)
- Distributed and Remote Workflows with Tyler Carey (Westchester Publishing) and Chris Hudson (Peachtree Editorial)
- Supply Chain: Logistics & Distribution with Kathy Ferguson (LSC Communications) and James Gagne (SEKO Logistics)
The track will also include a discussion forum and Zoom meet-up for ECPA members. Also included for one low price is access to all sessions, general keynote webcasts, and master classes.

Bronze Award presented to InterVarsity Press for "Liturgy of the Ordinary"
ECPA recently presented a BRONZE AWARD to InterVarsity Press to mark the sales milestone of 100,000 in sales for “Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life,” written by Tish Harrison Warren. The ECPA Milestone Sales Award program recognizes sales achievements at 100,000 (Bronze), 500,000 (Gold), 1 million (Platinum) and 10 million (Diamond).
