HarperCollins Christian Publishing acquires the Thompson® Chain-Reference® Bible assets
HarperCollins Christian Publishing has announced its acquisition of the Thompson® Chain-Reference® Bible product assets from Kirkbride Bible Company, Inc. The Bible brand will be stewarded by the Zondervan publishing group, under the direction of v-p and publisher, Melinda Bouma. This acquisition supports the company’s initiative to grow its Bible business through innovative products and a multi-translation publishing strategy.

Forgiving What You Can’t Forget, Lysa Terkeurst’s latest book (Thomas Nelson), is the story of ECPA’s Top 50 bestsellers list for December, reflecting POS sales in November as compiled by NPD BookScan. Not only did this book about making peace with painful memories sell three times the number of copies of the #2 title, The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman (Moody Publishers), but two of its ancillary products also debuted in the Top 20. The Forgiveness Journal is #4 in the Top 50, followed by the Forgiving What You Can’t Forget Study Guide at #17. In addition, Terkeurst’s last two books, It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way and Embraced, the 2019 ECPA Book of the Year (both Thomas Nelson), are at #34 and #38 respectively.

IVP receives three 2020 Gospel Coalition Book Awards
The Gospel Coalition has announced that three IVP titles were recipients of 2020 TGC Book Awards. The winning books include “Exodus Old and New,” “Companions in Suffering,” and “Analog Church.” Two additional IVP books—"Reading While Black” and “The Beautiful Community” —were named Honorable Mention titles.

Kayla Stoecklein on Jesus Calling Podcast: Turning grief into blessings
Mental health advocate Kayla Stoecklein recently joined the Jesus Calling Podcast to share how she experienced the tragic loss of her young husband to suicide, just as he was hitting his stride as the inspired lead pastor of a megachurch in California. Reeling from her new life as a widow, Kayla began to reexamine the way she thought about mental health, and God turned her husband’s passing into the most incredible platform for her to share her grief, in turn helping others begin helpful and healing conversations about their health.
