ECPA announces the 2024 Christian Book Award® winners
Beth Moore memoir ALL MY KNOTTED-UP LIFE is named the CHRISTIAN BOOK OF THE YEAR®
CHICAGO, IL., May 1, 2024 – Last night in Chicago during the ECPA Leadership Summit, the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) announced the 15 winners of the 2024 Christian Book Award program, including the Christian Book of the Year. Presented annually since 1978, the Christian Book Award program honors the “best of the year” in Christian literature.
The New York Times bestseller All My Knotted-Up Life: A Memoir by Bible Study teacher and bestselling author BETH MOORE (Tyndale Momentum) was named the 2024 CHRISTIAN BOOK OF THE YEAR. In her memoir about overcoming abuse, addiction, and the challenges of poverty, Moore points to the central role of her faith in finding freedom from trauma and finding purpose in life. The win was announced via webcast by last year’s Book of the Year author JENNIE ALLEN.
The evening also honored industry awards and milestones including the 50-year anniversaries of ECPA and of one of its founding publishers Harvest House Publishers. ECPA president Jeff Crosby presented the audience of industry leaders with a book he wrote on ECPA’s 50-year history.
The PINNACLE AWARD for Jesus Calling author Sarah Young was posthumously presented to her husband Stephen. The KENNETH N TAYLOR LIFETIME ACHIEVMENT AWARD for innovative publisher Dr. Henrietta C. Mears was posthumously presented to former Gospel Light publisher Bill Greig III. The ECPA CHAIR AWARD was presented to industry mentor and Noble Marketing founder Ted Terry by ECPA board chair Paul Santhouse (Moody Publishers).
Christian Book Award winners were named in 12 categories from 65 finalists, with ties announced in Christian Living and Faith & Culture. Two books by LYSA TERKEURST won in two categories: Good Boundaries and Goodbyes in Audio; and You’re Going to Make It in Devotion & Gift. GRANGER SMITH’s debut autobiography, Like A River, won in both the Biography & Memoir and New Author categories.
“It’s always a joy to come together as a creative community to celebrate excellence in Christian publishing,” stated Jeff Crosby, ECPA president. “In their own distinctive ways, these books have made significant contributions in advancing Christian faith, practice, and understanding in a variety of genres.
