ECPA announces 2024 Leadership Summit and 50th anniversary celebration
In its 50th anniversary year as an association, ECPA will conduct its annual management conference – the ECPA Leadership Summit for executive teams in Christian publishing – on April 30 to May 1 at the Hilton Rosemont at Chicago O’Hare. A book on the association’s history and mission is being written by ECPA president and CEO Jeff Crosby and will be distributed there.

IVP receives $1.25 million Lilly Endowment Grant
InterVarsity Press (IVP) has been awarded a $1.25 million grant in Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Christian Parenting and Caregiving Initiative. Building on recent research that affirms the pivotal role parents, grandparents, and other caregivers play in the religious lives of children, Lilly Endowment launched the Christian Parenting and Caregiving Initiative in 2022.

The bestselling Christian books and Bibles of 2023, based on POS data provided by Circana BookScan, have been posted in 15 categories including Spanish and children’s categories. “The 5 Love Languages” by Pinnacle Award winning author Gary Chapman (Moody) is the bestselling book of the year for the fourth year in a row. Thomas Nelson author Lysa TerKeurst has three titles in the Top 10 and eight titles in the Top 100. Additionally, the bestselling Christmas 2023 lists are posted in Non-Fiction, Fiction, and Juvenile.

Deadline this week for Christian Collective at Frankfurt Book Fair
This Thursday, January 25, is the final deadline to reserve a spot in the ECPA Christian Collective at the Frankfurt Book Fair, held October 16-20 in Germany. Other ECPA upcoming international rights events for Christian publishers include:

Naghmeh Panahi on Jesus Calling Podcast
Naghmeh Panahi recently joined The Jesus Calling Podcast to share how she unexpectedly found herself with a huge platform and the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives all over the world. Panahi made headlines when her husband, Saeed, was arrested in Iran for his Christian beliefs. As a missionary herself, Naghmeh had seen many of her friends persecuted for their faith, and was determined to get her husband released—despite the abuse she faced in their marriage. Panahi’s book, “I Didn’t Survive: Emerging Whole After Deception, Persecution, and Hidden Abuse,” is available from Whitaker House Publishers.
