ECPA and NPD has just released the 2016 Addendum to the ECPA Landscape Survey of Book Buying Trends in the Christian Market, providing the most comprehensive and recent snapshot of the Christian book market available, and including a specific report on Bibles. Purchasers of the full 2014-2016 report were sent the addendum last week. ECPA publisher members can still order the full report, which includes the 2016 addendum, and accompanying slides for your company.
PubU Editorial sessions announced
Industry editors are invited to PubU, where seven editorial sessions will be presented by a fascinating line-up of top leaders in Christian publishing and culture. Speakers include Jackie Hill Perry, Russell Moore, Barnabas Piper, Andrew Wolgemuth, Russ Ramsey, Nathan Finn and Chad Allen.
B&H Trade Books publisher Devin Maddox developed the program and states: “Since the Reformation, Christians have been on a mission to get Christian truth into the hands of everyday people. Now, in an age of unprecedented market, ideological, and theological challenges, we steward the same legacy. PubU is the premier conference for Christian publishing professionals held November 7-8 at Lipscomb University in Nashville. Over 40 sessions in six publishing topics will be presented in marketing/publicity, editorial, rights, design, reader engagement and data, delivery & workflow. Author and Q founder Gabe Lyons will deliver the opening keynote address on The Art of Curation.

ECPA and NPD announce 2nd annual Emerging Leader PubU scholarship program
ECPA, together with NPD Book, is excited to once again offer Emerging Leaders scholarships to PubU, the premiere conference for Christian publishing professionals to be held November 7-8 on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville. ECPA member publishers have the opportunity to nominate people in their companies who have been in the industry 5 years or less, with the potential to grow in their role to a place of leadership, and represent a voice from the margin. Nominations for ECPA’s Emerging Leaders scholarships will be accepted through September 15. The winning nominees will enjoy a rate of just $99 ($499 value) for the entire PubU experience and will be recognized during the opening session.

New Martin E. Marty title sells in excess of 10,000 copies -- author to give a rare talk
Given the upcoming quincentenary of Martin Luther’s posting the 95 Theses upon the Wittenberg Door in Germany, which sparked the Reformation and convulsed Europe, publishers have been pouring out new books. However, few of them have met with the success of Martin E. Marty’s October 31, 1517: Martin Luther and the Day that Changed the World (Paraclete Press), which has already sold in excess of 10,000 copies. A 4th printing has been ordered by the Press and author Marty, who no longer travels, is giving a rare talk on the book October 18th, 2017 at The Hank Center for the Catholic Intellectual Heritage at Loyola University in Chicago. Dr. Marty will be interviewed at this all day conference by Paraclete Press’s incoming publisher and editor-in-chief, Jon M. Sweeney.

Evangelical Covenant Church adopts ‘Immerse: The Reading Bible’ for their “Covenant Bible Reading Experience”
Beginning this fall, congregations of the Evangelical Covenant Church will begin a three-year Bible reading experience using 'Immerse: The Reading Bible.' This denomination-wide initiative was formed in partnership with Tyndale House Publishers and The Institute for Bible Reading (IFBR).
