ECPA Christian Collective wraps up another successful Frankfurt Book Fair

The world’s largest rights fair and global publishing event, the Frankfurt Book Fair, ended yesterday with the ECPA Christian Collective calling it a success.  “Participation in the ECPA Collective during the Frankfurt Book Fair is a unique and important opportunity to meet with strategic publishing partners from across the world,” expressed Fred Rudy of F.J. Rudy and Associates.  “It is a key part of our global publishing effort.”  The ECPA Collective represented nearly 30 Christian publishing companies.  ECPA handles onsite support, set-up and closing duties as well as all administrative functions related to reserving and managing the exhibit.  For more information on the ECPA Christian Collective in Frankfurt and/or London, contact Cynthia Helblig at ECPA.

ECPA PubU program to feature 60 industry leaders, experts to lead sessions

The 2017 ECPA PubU faculty includes some of the most recognizable names in the industry, while representing a breadth of talent and expertise with nearly 60 slated to participate in sessions for Christian publishing professionals in editorial, marketing, publicity, rights, design, production, data, workflow, and reader engagement.  PubU, the industry’s annual networking and publishing event held November 7-8 at Lipscomb University in Nashville, is developed by Christian publishing leaders known as the Brain Trust.  This year’s event is expected to break attendance records and draw more than 200 professionals in its first year in Nashville, including a class of Emerging Leaders representing up and coming industry talent.

The most recently added PubU presenters include:

• Emily McFarlan Miller (RNS), Richard Clark (CT Pastors), David Bennett (HomeLife / Open Windows), Bob Smietana (veteran religion reporter, Facts&Trends), Holly Meyer (The Tennessean) in a panel on What Every News Editor or Producer Needs from a Publicist/Publisher
• Jennifer Willingham (Icon Media Group), Ryan Dunlap (Ribbow Media), Brian Mitchell (Working Title Agency) will lead, What Movies and Music Promotion can Teach the Book Industry
• Holly O’Harra (Events Manager, HCCP) will moderate a panel on How to Leverage Events for Effective Reader Engagement
• Leah Chabai (Proverbs 31) on Best Practices to Sharing Content for the Purposes of Building Author/Publisher Platforms and Email Lists
• Ryan Myers (She Reads Truth and He Reads Truth) will lead a session for designers called, And so, we create

Winners of the 2017 Christy Award™ to be announced at live gala in Nashville featuring Karen Kingsbury, Andrew Peterson and Chris Fabry

The Christy Award Gala, will gather publishers and authors and Christian fiction professionals and enthusiasts on Wednesday evening, November 8, at Lipscomb University to celebrate the art of Christian fiction, announce the 2017 Christy Award winners, honor the 50th anniversary of the novel Christy, and feature Karen Kingsbury, Andrew Peterson, and Chris Fabry.  The dinner gala will follow an afternoon of seminars held for “creators and curators” on The Art of Writing.  The four afternoon seminars will celebrate the creative life, provide practical tips for overcoming challenges in a rapidly-changing industry, and answer questions authors are asking.  Speakers include Andrew Peterson, Dr. Theon Hill, Carrie Schmidt, Cynthia Ruchti, Chris Fabry, and a panel of editors representing Howard, Tyndale Fiction, Gilead, and more.
