Howard Books announce staff updates: Beth Adams now Executive Editor
Beth Adams, Senior Editor of Howard Books, has been promoted to Executive Editor. Since joining Howard in 2012, Beth worked with authors such as Allison Pataki, Dr. Jennifer Arnold and Bill Klein, Laura Schroff, and Deeanne Gist. Beth will continue to be based out of Atria’s New York City office. Additionally, Becky Nesbitt will return to Howard Books as Editor-At-Large, based in Nashville, and reporting to Beth Adams and Senior Editor Philis Boultinghouse has announced her retirement as of September 29.

The Christy Award™ winners to be announced at Dinner Gala in Nashville on November 8: Two events for curators and creatives for only $99
Publishing curators and creators are invited to celebrate the power of story in Christian fiction at The Art of Writing conference and Christy Award Gala held on November 8 immediately following PubU at Lipscomb University in Nashville. The winners of The Christy Award in nine categories will be announced at the gala featuring Andrew Peterson, Karen Kingsbury and Chris Fabry. The Art of Writing immediately follows PubU and is designed to bring Christian creatives and publishing curators together for a half day of intensive seminars that celebrate the creative life, provide practical tips for overcoming challenges in a rapidly-changing industry, and answer questions authors are asking. Speakers include Andrew Peterson, Wheaton College professor Theon Hill, Ph.D., blogger Carrie Schmidt, ACFW public relations liaison Cynthia Ruchti, and a panel of ECPA publishers.

Congregational singing alive and well at ‘Sing!’ conference
More than 4,000 pastors, music leaders and musicians attended Sing! conference, a three-day celebration of congregational singing hosted by Getty Music at Brentwood Baptist Church near Nashville. “Sing!” is also the name of Keith and Kristyn Getty’s latest book from B&H Publishing. The first time Keith Getty sat down to write the melody for a new hymn, he penned the now-classic tune for “In Christ Alone.”

As part of its growing children’s book program, Paraclete Press has signed author Jon M. Sweeney and illustrator Roy DeLeon to a three-book series for children ages 6-9. Both the series and the first book are titled "The Pope’s Cat." According to the description, these books “tell the story of a stray born on the Via della Conciliazione in Rome, how she’s adopted by the Pope, and the ways in which she then runs the Vatican from museum to floorboard!” It is unclear if the Pope of this series is Pope Francis but there is definitely a resemblance. The Queen of England also makes an appearance in book one, on an official visit to the Vatican.
