Jim Carlson, founder of Logos Bookstores and Spring Arbor, has died

Jim Carlson, founder of the Association of Logos Bookstores and of Spring Arbor Distributors, died on September 29 in Dublin, Ohio after a long illness. Under his leadership, 82 franchised Logos Bookstores sprung up near university campuses across the United States. In 1978, Jim founded Spring Arbor Distributors, which grew to have over 600 employees that faithfully served Christian bookstores worldwide.

PubU Online Editorial and Marketing tracks start this week

Today, ECPA PubU Online kicks off its publisher training in six tracks, with Marketing and Editorial starting its sessions today and concluding on Thursday.  Master Classes on a variety of topics will be presented on Friday.  Meet-Ups for small press, editorial and marketing professionals will take place in the afternoons.  Last Friday, the industry gathered around the opening keynote by Karen Wright Marsh on Waking Up to Wonder.

P&R Publishing releases first board books in new series

P&R Publishing has released the first three board books in an ongoing series for children ages 0–3. Filled with vibrant, exuberant artwork by graphic designer Jessica Hiatt, they introduce young readers to historical Christian hymns, biblical prayers, and covenant promises compiled by Hannah Estes. Prayers and Promises include original, child-friendly Bible translations by Westminster Theological Seminary professor and P&R author Iain M. Duguid. The board books are a first for P&R, and the publisher plans to bring important scriptural truths to the board book format with subsequent volumes in the series.
