For the past two years, PubU – the industry’s premiere training event for practitioners in Christian publishing – has conflicted with the Frankfurt Book Fair – the world’s largest rights event. But this year PubU organizers made sure that didn’t happen and scheduled the event a month later in November so that the industry’s Rights community can continue the tradition of gathering to connect, learn and grow as Rights professionals. The track is being developed by attorney Brian Flagler (Flagler Law Group) and rights managers Ellen Hsu (InterVarsity Press) and Cindy Riggins (Riggins International Rights Services). “It is in everyone’s best interest to have competent and informed people managing the rights of a publisher’s intellectual property, their greatest asset,” explains Hsu. “The PubU Rights track is one of the best opportunities for Rights professionals to gather for networking and education.” Through the sessions and informal interactions with industry colleagues, rights professionals will learn about markets shifts, industry standards, and legal issues that affect their work and also pick up tips and strategies for doing their work more effectively.
