PubU Online enters week four; two more weeks of programming will commence with Zoom meet-ups and closing keynote
A Diversity & Inclusion panel on Marketing Beyond Traditional Constituencies kicked off week four this morning of the PubU Online daily webinar series for Christian publishing professionals. The engaging conversation with Jamie Lapeyrolerie (WaterBrook & Multnomah) and Amanda Mae Steel (B&H Kids) was moderated by Maila Kue (InterVarsity Press) – who was in the PubU Emerging Leader class of 2019. Among the many recommendations made for publishers to deepen their reach within BIPOC Christian communities was to: (1) diversify your network of contacts; (2) listen and learn with humility; (3) be open to other expressions of Christian faith; (4) do the hard work to adapt your messaging to different constituents; and (5) diversify your marketing teams.
Three more live webinars will commence this week in marketing, editorial, and production – as well as track-focused Zoom meet-ups. PubU Online will conclude on October 1st with a plenary session that will feature the 2020 Top Shelf Book Cover Design Awards, followed by a special presentation by award-winning author and artist Ruth Chou Simons on “Art That Heals in a Time of Crisis.”
