Don Jacobson named SVP and Books Group Publisher for HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus
HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus today announced that Don Jacobson will lead the organizations’ book publishing programs as senior v-p and group publisher. Joining the organization on October 7, Jacobson will be based in Nashville, Tenn., report to Mark Schoenwald, president and CEO, HarperCollins Christian Publishing, and will serve on the company’s executive leadership team.

Today, September 30, is the last day to submit your titles for the 2020 Christian Book Award® program, the oldest and most prestigious awards program in the religious publishing industry. Presented annually to the finest in Christian publishing, the Christian Book Award® program honors the “best of the year” in 12 categories, including Audio. The finalists and the winners in each category, plus the Christian Book of the Year, will be celebrated at the annual ECPA Awards Celebration dinner on May 5, 2020 at the ECPA Leadership Summit in Nashville.
2019 Christy Award Gala will include tribute to “inspirational fiction pioneer” Janette Oke
The Christy Award Gala, held on November 6 in Nashville to honor the finalists and announce the winners of The Christy Award®, will also include a special tribute to the legacy of JANETTE OKE. Oke, considered the pioneer of inspirational fiction, will be honored that evening in recognition of the 40th anniversary year of her seminal classic “Love Comes Softly,” which has sold more than 1.6 million copies and was made into one of the most watched series of the Hallmark Channel. In 2020 Hallmark is renewing the seventh season of the When Calls the Heart television series, based on Janette’s book series of the same name. Her more than 70 novels have sold over 30 million copies and have been translated into 14 languages. The evening dinner event will also feature award-winning fiction authors JAMES RUBART, BECKY WADE, and PATTI CALAHAN.
Tickets are now on sale for both the Awards Gala and the preceding Art of Writing Conference with Lysa TerKeurst, at a bundle rate of $119.

Francis Chan wins prestigious UK Christian Life Book Of The Year Award
Best-selling book, “Letters to the Church” by Francis Chan was awarded the 2019 Christian Life Book of the Year by the UK CRT (Christian Resources Together) Annual Retreat, Conference and Exhibit in the Hayes Conference Centre in Swanwick, Derbyshire on September 16, 2019. This annual award is given to an outstanding book in the UK in the Christian Life category.

Denhollander draws large crowd at first public signing/speaking event for new books
Rachael Denhollander, the sexual assault victim who helped bring about the arrest, trial, and conviction of sports doctor Larry Nassar, drew a crowd of about 275 on Tuesday, Sept. 17, to Baker Book House in Grand Rapids, Mich. This was the first public event at which she spoke and signed copies of her books.
