(Nashville, TN) July 20, 2017—Today, HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) announced Joey Paul as senior editor, specifically focused on nonfiction imprints for Thomas Nelson and Zondervan.
Paul’s publishing legacy is rooted in Thomas Nelson’s history. In 1970 he began his career at Word Publishing, which was acquired by the company in 1992. In 2001, he became publisher of Integrity Publishers, which was also acquired by Thomas Nelson in 2006. While at Integrity, Paul published Sarah Young’s first book, the devotional Jesus Calling, which has become an international brand. After serving as vice president of Editorial and Acquisitions for Thomas Nelson, Paul joined FaithWords in 2008, a division of Hachette Book Group, as executive editor.
In his new role with HCCP, Paul will serve as an editor-at-large for nonfiction imprints, starting with a focus on the Thomas Nelson publishing group. He will provide product research and development and assist with in-house theological content vetting and substantive MSS editing, as well as acquisition and editorial consultation. Paul will also focus on developing innovative new product concepts to support major titles. Additionally, Paul will continue to foster strong relationships with both authors and agents across the industry to further cultivate critical publishing partnerships.
“With over forty-six years of industry experience, Joey’s expertise will be an invaluable asset to not only the editorial process, but to our business as a whole,” says David Moberg, senior vice president and HCCP group publisher. “We are pleased to welcome Joey back into such a pivotal role where his experience will be of paramount value for our upcoming publishing endeavors.”
Paul has worked with many notable authors across the Christian publishing industry throughout his career, including Billy Graham, Max Lucado, Joel Osteen, Ravi Zacharias, Sarah Young, Joyce Meyer, John Eldredge, Emerson Eggerichs, John MacArthur, Anne Graham Lotz, and David Jeremiah.
