LifeWay wins 8 Spanish publishing awards including ‘Book of the Year’

LifeWay Christian Resources and its B&H Publishing Español division received eight awards and recognitions from the Spanish Evangelical Publishers Association (SEPA).

Each year, SEPA recognizes the highest quality and excellence in the publication, sale and marketing of Christian literature in Spanish.

In addition to collecting more SEPA awards this year than any other publisher during the online presentation on June 18, LifeWay received the top honor of “Original Book of the Year” for De Pastores y Predicadores [From Pastors and Preachers] by Miguel Núñez.

It was the second year in a row LifeWay and B&H Español received this recognition, and the third time in the past five years.“We are grateful to God for receiving these awards and are aware of the responsibility we have as a ministry,” said César Custodio, Spanish sales and marketing director.

“We live in a world that must know God’s truths, and our resources help believers grow in faith and be truthful witnesses of the message of the gospel. This reaffirms our commitment to creating reliable resources for Christians.”

Other awards LifeWay received include:

  • Best Devotional – Un año con Dios [A Year with God]
  • Best Kid’s Book – Oraciones para Dormir [Prayers for Bedtime]
  • Best Reference Book – Diccionario Bíblico Holman [Holman Bible Dictionary]
  • Best Specialty Bible – Biblia del Pescador [Fisher of Men Bible]

LifeWay was also recognized for the following Milestone Honors for exceptional sale achievements of more than 100,000 copies sold:

  • The Resolution for Men by Stephen Kendrick, Alex Kendrick and Randy Alcorn
  • My Experience with God by Henry Blackaby, Richard Blackaby and Claude King
  • Holman Spanish Study Bible

This was also the second year in a row that Núñez, pastor of Iglesia Bautista International in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was honored with the SEPA “Original Book of the Year” award. LifeWay and B&H Español recently signed Núñez to author five additional books with the publishing company.“

Dr. Miguel Núñez is one the most influential voices in Latin America, and God is doing amazing things through his ministry,” said Giancarlo Montemayor, Spanish trade publisher. “In a part of the world where false teaching permeates abundantly, Dr. Núñez is proclaiming the true and only gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s an honor for us to come alongside his ministry.

“Signing this five-book agreement is very special to us because it confirms the trust Dr. Núñez has put in our hands to care for his ministry and to continue to spread God’s kingdom through good and faithful literature.”

Resourcing the Spanish-speaking world with faithful literature continues to be a priority for LifeWay.

In addition to supporting an ever-growing catalog of Spanish books and Bibles, LifeWay will begin publishing the curriculum line “The Gospel Project for Kids” in Spanish for the first time this fall, said Carlos Astorga, Spanish direct publisher.

LifeWay will also begin publishing a new series of studies called “UNIDOS” specifically designed and contextualized for adult discipleship in Latin America. This new series, scheduled to launch this winter, draws from popular short-term and ongoing curriculum including Disciple’s Path, Explore the Bible, Gospel Foundations and Bible Studies for Life.

And celebrating its first full year of ministry this past May, LifeWayEquipa.com, an online, video-driven training platform for Spanish-speaking Christians, now serves more than 14,000 leaders and pastors around the world.

“We live in a world that must know God’s truths, and our resources help believers grow in faith and be truthful witnesses of the message of the gospel,” said Custodio. “[This year’s awards] validate the trajectory of our publishing line and commit us to maintain our focus on biblical, serious resources that are recognized by believers.”
