COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (August 31, 2020)—NavPress is pleased to announce that Renovaré Book Club has chosen How to Pray: A Simple Guide for Normal People by Pete Greig as one of four soul-shaping, Christ-centered books for its nine-month book club, which starts September 2020.
How to Pray is written to evoke a passion for prayer in everyone—the committed follower of Jesus as well as the skeptic and the scared. The enormous blessing of How to Pray is that it is accessible, full of surprising stories of answered prayer, and tremendously engaging. The basic idea is that prayer is a conversation between you and God. Pete Greig, one of the founders of the 24-7 prayer movement, demystifies and re-enchants prayer, helping readers to find prayer achievable and enjoyable and, ultimately, life-giving and life-changing.
“Last year, almost 2,000 people from 27 countries participated in a reading journey together as fellow pilgrims in the Renovaré Book Club. This year, we’re excited to see how the Lord will meet us in the pages of these books, particularly in the midst of such a disorienting time. We can’t think of a better—or more needed—book to begin with than Pete Greig’s How to Pray.”
Other books selected for the Renovaré Book Club are Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman, Prayer in the Night by Tish Harrison Warren, and A Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life by William Law.
“Renovaré has long held a tradition of encouraging Christ-followers in spiritual formation. Richard Foster greatly helped me in the concept of prayer journaling. And so it is quite delightful that we at NavPress have been given this opportunity to partner with them, with Pete Grieg and countless people the world over in discovering How to Pray!” –Don Pape, Publisher, NavPress
