Are You Looking For Something More? New Book Maps the Journey to the Life Your Heart Longs For

PLANO, Texas (October 21, 2025)— Pastor and author Roger Ross addresses the growing number of people looking for something more in his latest book, Kinda Christian: From Curious to Serious about Jesus (Invite Ministries; Oct. 21, 2025), offering a bridge from spiritual curiosity to authentic faith.
“Whether we are agnostic or averse to God, exploring other faiths or kinda Christian, the common thread that connects us is a search for something beyond ourselves,” said Ross. “We’re all looking for healing, restored relationships, genuine joy and meaning that helps us make sense of the world. Deep down, we long to know if there is a God who sees us and loves us as we are.”
Instead of offering superficial encouragement to casual believers, Kinda Christian provides a practical roadmap for spiritual transformation. Divided into two sections, the book first focuses on cultivating deeply devoted disciples and then equips readers to guide others on the same journey. Ross builds his approach around six key pathways of glory, grace, group, growth, giftedness and generosity.
“God’s glory is not revealed to wipe us off the earth; it’s revealed to wrap us in his love,” said Ross. “When we allow the truth, beauty, and love of the Presence to touch our hearts, it does not erase our existence. It enlivens every part of it.”
Drawing from encounters with spiritually transformed individuals, Ross demonstrates how Scripture continues to reshape modern lives. He challenges readers to move beyond passive faith.
“We are saved to serve,” Ross writes. “The reason we are still here is to do the good works God has prepared for us ahead of time. There are big tasks and small ones. Our job is to be on the lookout for the serving adventures God has already arranged.”
This perspective on purposeful service naturally extends beyond individual calling to community building, making Kinda Christian a valuable resource for pastors and churches to instill discipleship principles. Ross brings extensive pastoral experience to his writing, having served for 10 years as the lead pastor of one of the largest United Methodist Churches in the Midwest. He is also the author of Meet The Goodpeople: Wesley’s 7 Ways to Share Faith, Come Back: Returning to the Life You Were Made For and Come Back Participant Guide.
