Nashville, Tenn., Jan. 25, 2018 – Thomas Nelson is pleased to announce the release of 40 NKJV™ Bibles featuring the new, exclusive NKJV Comfort Print® typeface. The new Bibles are available in a variety of Thinline editions, including Compact, Value, and Large Print, in Cloth over Board and Leathersoft bindings. New NKJV Comfort Print® Bibles are also available in Pew, Gift and Award, and Deluxe Gift editions.
HarperCollins Christian Publishing released its first Comfort Print® Bibles in March 2017 in the Thomas Nelson KJV translation. In November 2017, more than 60 new Bibles were released in the Zondervan NIV translation with an exclusive NIV Comfort Print® typeface. With the release of Thomas Nelson’s NKJV Comfort Print® Bibles, HarperCollins Christian Publishing is pleased to be offering Comfort Print® Bibles in all three of its major translations.
The new NKJV Comfort Print® typeface was designed by 2K/DENMARK, a company renowned for their decades of experience in Bible typesetting and design. 2K/DENMARK’s Bible typefaces “are designed to serve one purpose; to contain the message of the Word of God.”
“The story and the character of the NKJV really provides the inspiration for the typeface, which is classic and elegant, but with a distinctly modern edge,” says Daniel Marrs, associate publisher, Thomas Nelson Bible Group. “More than that, it clearly communicates the wonderful message of Scripture, and reflects the NKJV translation itself—an extraordinarily accurate, beautiful translation, produced over the course of seven years by an international team of 130 Bible scholars and church leaders.”
“We believe that Scripture is uniquely sacred and beautiful, so, as Bible publishers, we care deeply about the stewardship of this book,” says Marrs. “We think it’s a good thing when the beauty of the message is reflected in the physical form of the book. And choosing the right typeface is one piece of that desire. Our NKJV Comfort Print® typeface blends tradition with the best advances in modern typography. The result is a font that’s traditional, but also entirely relevant and fresh, with modern design flourishes geared toward beauty and readability for readers today.”
