Carol Stream, IL (December 8, 2025) — Tyndale is pleased to announce that The Collector of Burned Books (Tyndale Fiction, July 2025) was selected for the CT Fiction Book Award. Every year Christianity Today selects books that are most likely to shape evangelical life, thought, and culture. CT chooses the top contenders for this honor based on the reviews and rankings of dozens of expert judges.
The Collector of Burned Books by Roseanna M. White is a gripping historical novel set in France during World War II. In this story about courage, freedom, and love, a literature professor in Paris and a reluctant soldier work to protect a collection of banned books used to rely encoded messages for the French resistance. Anthony Cirilla, an associate professor of English at College of the Ozarks, said this in his CT review, “The Collector of Burned Books masterfully unites historical realities with the personal drama of its characters.”
“We could not be more thrilled for Roseanna, and we extend our thanks to Christianity Today for this recognition of her work,” said Elizabeth Jackson, Senior Acquisitions Editor for Tyndale Fiction. “Both a timely novel about the power of words and an engaging story of hope amid the darkness of World War II, The Collector of Burned Books illustrates what Roseanna does so well—bring to life stories that are as poignant as they are thought-provoking.”
What the River Keeps (Tyndale Fiction, August 2025) by Cheryl Grey Bostrom was honored as the recipient of the CT Fiction Book Award of Merit. In this book, a successful biologist’s complicated memories hinder her from living a normal life until she returns to her childhood home in the Pacific Northwest and confronts the secrets of her past.
“We are so pleased to see Cheryl’s hard work recognized with a Christianity Today Award of Merit for What the River Keeps. This evocative novel skillfully navigates the pain of generational trauma and the burden of secrets while ultimately pointing to the transformative power of love in many forms to heal and make whole,” said Jackson.
