Award-winning titles to be featured in upcoming issue of Focus on the Family magazine
Carol Steam, Ill. (July 12, 2017) — Three children’s titles from Tyndale House Publishers have been named to PluggedIn.com’s list of 10 Family-Friendly Picture Books from 2016 (formerly Thriving Family’s list). The award-winning titles include Be Still by Kathryn O’Brien and two Flipside Stories by Dandi Daley Mackall: Jonah and the Fish and The Lost Lamb and the Good Shepherd. The top-10 list will be published in the August/September 2017 issue of Focus on the Family magazine.
In an e-mail statement, Focus on the Family Editorial Director of Parenting Content Sheila Seifert wrote, “My editorial team and I have reviewed hundreds of picture books published in 2016 to find what we consider to be the 10 best family-friendly picture books for our audience.” Tyndale’s contributions to this list are representative of the publishing house’s goal of producing quality literature that helps make biblical truth accessible to readers of all ages. “We are so honored to be a part of Focus on the Family’s Top 10 Family-Friendly Picture Books with not only one but three books,” writes Linda Howard, Associate Publisher for Children and Youth at Tyndale House Publishers. “We are praying that God will use these stories to help bring little ones and their parents to a deeper relationship with Him.”
O’Brien’s Be Still is an engaging introduction to Psalm 46:10, designed to help children memorize Scripture by teaching the meaning of the verse, one word at a time, before presenting the whole passage. Mackall’s Jonah and the Fish and The Lost Lamb and the Good Shepherd are part of the Tyndale Kids Flipside Stories series, which makes use of an innovative format to tell the same story from two different biblical points of view by literally flipping the book over.
