Compelling fiction story sheds light on the darkness of teen suicide in The Delusion, releasing October 2017
Carol Stream, Ill. (July 19, 2017) — As part of realizing a vision for building its children’s and youth division, Tyndale House Publishers introduces one of its key acquisitions for this fall—The Delusion, a young adult novel by Laura Gallier.
Young adult books are becoming more and more of a force in the industry, but that trend hasn’t been reflected recently in religious publishing. Inspired by Tyndale’s legacy—founder Dr. Kenneth Taylor originally wrote the Scripture paraphrases that became his seminal Living Bible for his children—and feeling called to fill the void in the industry by providing beautiful and biblically based literature to the next generation, Tyndale House is unrolling a plan to target middle grade and teen readers. This initiative will include books with Christian themes that also have crossover appeal to a more general market. Tyndale’s upcoming release, The Delusion, is an excellent example of a crossover title, as it touches on major social issues from current pop culture that are widely relatable to the coming-of-age audience.
Through her fiction, author Laura Gallier offers an antidote to toxic trends in today’s young adult media that romanticize serious issues like suicide, depression, and self-harm (i.e. popular TV series 13 Reasons Why.) Gallier’s novel explores the existence of an invisible battle between good and evil, shining light and hope on dark matters that keep youth as well as adults in bondage. As Frank Peretti’s This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness did for a previous generation, The Delusion explores spiritual warfare in a fresh way, reminding us that we all have our demons.
Gallier invites readers to embark upon a mind-bending journey through truth and delusion, to reconsider what they believe, and to answer for themselves a question that transcends fiction: Are evil forces really after me?
“We are thrilled to partner with Laura to publish The Delusion,” says Linda Howard, Associate Publisher for Children and Youth at Tyndale. “Laura’s depiction of the very real fight between good and evil has created a book that is not only a fantastic read, but also opens a window into the spiritual world, encouraging readers to reflect on their own daily battles.”
In a youth culture intrigued by the paranormal yet often skeptical of biblical claims, Laura Gallier seeks to bring awareness and understanding to issues surrounding the supernatural. Having battled her own enemies of the soul throughout her teen and young adult years, she is on a mission to expose deception with the light of truth, bringing hope and healing to a generation in need. Laura lives in the greater Houston area with her husband, Patrick, and their three children. Get to know Laura better at www.lauragallier.com.
