Died: John Marshall Gage, CEO and chairman of Kirkbride Bible Company
Kirkbride Bible Co. Inc. CEO and Chairman of the Board John Marshall Gage, age 82, peacefully departed from his long and full life on July 26, 2019 in Largo, FL. His career in business began in 1960 with the B. B. Kirkbride Bible Co., Inc where he became Director of Advertising and Sales Manager, 1970. Treasurer, 1980. Executive Vice President, 1988-2007. President and CEO, 1991-2007. In 2008 he continued as Chairman of the Kirkbride Board of Directors. In two terms from 1980-1982 and 1985-1987 he served as Board Member of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.

Last week, ECPA announced 30 finalists in nine categories for the 2019 The Christy Award® program. There were three ties. The Christy Award® exists to celebrate excellence in the art of Christian Fiction and to honor the power of faith in story.
Winners will be announced at The Christy Award Gala, to be held the evening of Wednesday, November 6th in the new George Shinn Event Center at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. The event will feature bestselling authors PATTI CALLAHAN (Becoming Mrs. Lewis), BECKY WADE (True to You, Falling for You), and JAMES RUBART (The Man He Never Was) — and will include a special tribute to the legacy of JANETTE OKE, pioneer of inspirational fiction, in the 40th anniversary year of her seminal classic Love Comes Softly. Preceding the Gala will be an afternoon of writing workshops featuring LYSA TERKEURST, JAMES RUBART, ANNE BOGEL, and more.

Last call for submissions: Final week for Christian Book Award® submissions in 12 categories
Give the titles you worked hard to launch this past year the recognition they deserve by entering them into the 2020 Christian Book Award program. Nominations in 12 categories can be submitted until a week from today, Monday, September 30 for books published between October 2018 and October 2019. Submitting categories are: Audio; Bibles; Bible Reference works; Bible Study; Ministry Resources; Biography & Memoir; Christian Living; Faith & Culture; Devotion & Gift; Children (ages 0-8); Young People’s Literature (ages 9-16 non-fiction); and New Author.

B&H Kids releases “The Promises of God Storybook Bible” to teach kids God’s promises in Scripture
Jennifer Lyell has taught hundreds of children the Bible over the course of many years, observing what resonates with them. She firmly believes that young kids are capable of understanding God’s promises for themselves as they learn the stories of the Bible. Lyell is set to release “The Promises of God Storybook Bible” (October 2019, B&H Publishing Group), an incredible, beautifully illustrated, Scripturally-faithful project designed for kids ages 4-8 but suitable for the entire family to read together.
