WESTMONT, IL—InterVarsity Press (IVP) has announced that Rachel Hastings has been appointed associate editor for IVP Academic.

Hastings joined IVP in 2021 as assistant project editor and was soon promoted to associate project editor for trade books. In the role of associate editor for IVP Academic she will be leading acquisitions and the development of academic books in biblical studies and related fields.

“Rachel has already been working on a number of academic titles this year, and frankly she simply rose above the top among the applicants at every stage of our rigorous selection process,” said Jon Boyd, associate publisher and academic editorial director at IVP. “If you’ve noticed all the job postings from IVP lately, most of which are for freshly created positions, you’ve seen how we’re growing. In this key position, Rachel will be a big part of the future we’re building with IVP Academic.”

Hastings has two master’s degrees, one in Old Testament and one in New Testament, from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and she was the recipient of the Gordon-Conwell’s New Testament and Greek Award in 2020. She also worked in the admissions office at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary for five years, overseeing enrollment management initiatives in the southeast region.

Steps for Redeeming a Marriage Hurt by Pornography Use
Curtis Solomon offers husbands hope for facing their battles and restoring their relationships

Greensboro, NC—For some men, it may seem like pornography use is an issue between him and God and no one else. A 2014 Barna Group Survey found that 64 percent of Christian men and 15 percent of Christian women view porn at least once a month. Sadly, the numbers are probably much higher than reported. LOGAN M. ISAAC spent more than six years in the United States Army as an artilleryman, including a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004. He was discharged as a Noncommissioned Officer in 2006 and went on to earn a BA from Hawaii Pacific University and a Master of Theological Studies from Duke University. Logan spent a year teaching at Methodist University in North Carolina before leaving to study at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, from which he received a Master of Letters in Systematic and Historical Theology in 2015. 

After returning to a teaching position at Duke University, he went on to earn a Certificate in Business Administration from Georgetown University and start Pew Pew HQ, a social enterprise based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Logan is the sole author, as Logan Mehl-Laituri, of Reborn on the Fourth of July (InterVarsity, 2012) and For God and Country: In That Order (Herald, 2013).
