New children’s book invites parents to share their greatest wish with their kids

August 3, 2020 by Sheri Toomb

CHARLOTTE, NC – Many parents and caregivers share a common dream: the hope that their child will grow up to love Jesus with all of their heart. Melissa Kruger voices this dream through her fun, imaginative new children’s book Wherever You Go, I Want You to Know (The Good Book Company, August 2020.)

Whether read to young kids or gifted to older children reaching milestones like graduation, the meaningful message of the book resonates. Kruger’s rhythmic writing is powerfully woven into illustrator Isobel Lundie’s enchanting, vibrant artwork. Kids can picture themselves in a number of future careers, fulfilling many different dreams, through the energetic imagery.

Best-selling author Ann Voskamp says, “This will become an all-time favorite read-aloud! What every parent wants to say— and what every child wants to hear. There’s nothing you want your child to know more than what this charming book sings in lyrical, romping lines—lines that will tie your heart to your child’s and wrap you both up in the love of God and the supremest dream we all have to know. My daughter and I were so smitten with it that we read it twice right away!”

Kids and adults alike enjoy the spunky images and rhymes about many different dreams, like farming, teaching, or even winning a silly contest. These relatable ideas spark conversation about children’s hopes and experiences, giving parents opportunities to offer encouragement, share in their kid’s excitement, and highlight that their greatest aspiration of all applies wherever kids go, no matter what they do: loving Jesus!

Kruger explains this book is “also a message I need to hear again and again as a mom. The pressure isn’t just on our kids, it’s on us. We run from this school event to that sports practice and it’s so easy to lose our way and get distracted from our greatest purpose. This book isn’t just a reminder to our children, it’s a reminder to us as parents. We want to set our greatest hopes for our children on their belief in Jesus, not a concept of success in this world.”

To celebrate the launch of Wherever You Go, I Want You to Know and encourage parents and caregivers to share their dream of children growing up to love Jesus, The Good Book Company invites readers to post a photo of their child dressed as what they want to be when they grow up, using the hashtag #whereverdream. Photos can also be submitted to enter a giveaway before August 15th, 2020 at thegoodbook.com/wherever.

CAN Crown Awards celebrate excellence in Christian media and marketing by authors

August 3, 2020 by Sheri Toomb

Receive the CAN Crown of Excellence for Book Marketing

Entry season now open

Don’t we all want to raise the bar on excellence in marketing Christian content? And to acknowledge successful marketing efforts? Last year’s debut CAN Crown Awards did just that, and its winners showed some wonderful results for their work. You can, too.

The Christian Authors Network (CAN) has developed tangible, measurable marketing standards of excellence to help Christian authors know that their marketing for books, book series, or brands are effective. The Christian Authors Network #CANCROWN AWARDS recognize, educate, and encourage excellence in marketing and promotion skills of Christian authors.

Christian authors want to get their books, book series, and brands out to readers, retailers, and librarians. The messages in those books reflect the love and glory of God. But without excellent marketing plans, those very messages may go unread. The #CANCrown Awards recognize authors for excellence in marketing and media, and being a winner provides continued credibility long after the contest.

By highlighting stellar examples and recognizing marketing and media expertise, the #CANCrown Awards helps all authors. There are three categories for books, book series, and author brands:

  • Visual Media
  • Broadcasting
  • Web Presence

Judges for these categories evaluate the authors’ physical materials, social media, major media, websites, blogs, and newsletters respectively. Therefore, the purpose of CAN Crown Awards is: to recognize, educate, and encourage excellence in marketing and promotion skills of all Christian authors.

The CAN Crown Awards entry season closes August 31, 2020 at midnight, CDT.

Judges are independent professionals with expertise in marketing and media. Finalists will be announced and will receive finalist logos/badges for their websites and materials.

The Christian Authors Network will announce the finalists in advance of the Crown Award Celebration. The virtual Crown Awards will be presented in November. Winners (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) will be awarded at the virtual Crown Awards Gala. Presentations will include an overview of each winners’ campaign to an audience of filmmakers, publishing industry, and then out into the public to reach readers, retailers, and librarians.

The Christian Authors Network will also partner with authors to share finalist and winning entries to bring attention to these excellent author marketing plans. CAN will promote the winners through the many #CANCrown Awards channels of influence—all for the price of entry.

Award design and entry pages are on the CAN website.

Cost per entry: $40 CAN Members/$80 non-members.

Access the entry forms on the CAN Website.

The Christian Authors Network is comprised of a large network of traditionally published authors who work together to grow the industry, their careers, and Christ. Learn more about the Christian Authors Network at http://ChristianAuthorsNetwork.com.

New dates announced for Fall 2020 Christian Products Expo

August 3, 2020 by Sheri Toomb

LARGO, Fla.— As we navigate these challenging times, CPE is looking ahead to the future. While plans are still moving forward, the dates for CPE have been pushed back a week due to the Atlanta Gift Mart. The Mart, originally scheduled for July, moved their dates directly on top of the CPE show dates, forcing CPE to make this move in order to accommodate the gift vendors already scheduled to attend the CPE show. The new show dates are August 23 – 25, 2020 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, DE.

“In these unprecedented times, we need this show to bring people together now more than ever,” said Christy Dollins, Trade Show Assistant Coordinator.

Dollins has been closely monitoring Delaware’s plans to reopen. Delaware is currently in Phase 2 of reopening and working toward Phase 3. Dollins is working with the Chase Center on procedures at the show to ensure the safety and health of all attendees and is hopeful that by August 23 there will be even less restrictions. At this time, there is no intention of cancelling the show.

CPE is FREE to attend and offers retailers a generous reimbursement program, based on the number of orders written and presentations received at the show. For this show only, CPE has chosen to decrease the required number of orders for reimbursement, as well as add a $50 travel allowance to the lowest tier. This is to help offset retailers’ travel costs to ensure they are able to attend and have the means for order writing at the show.

To learn more about CPE updates, visit cpeshow.com.

The Munce Group was founded in October 1991 and currently serves nearly 220 member retailers across the US. The mission of the Munce Group is to provide member retailers with the highest quality Christian materials and services to equip independent Christian retailers for the work of their ministry and business. Munce Group also hosts Christian Product Expo (CPE). CPE is the only industry trade show that is free to attend and provides a generous reimbursement program. Visit www.cpeshow.com.
