Leading Bible Study platform ‘Logos’ leans into long and respected history with brand reposition

July 10, 2023 by Sheri Toomb

Focuses on Primary Mission: Taking People Deeper into the Bible

BELLINGHAM, Wash., July 7, 2023 — Logos, the most widely used Bible study and sermon preparation platform available, today announced its exit from the church management space along with Logos’s returned focus to growing and expanding its long-valued suite of Bible-focused applications, tools, curriculum and content.

Having sunset its church management products marketed under the Faithlife brand, including Equip, Live Stream, Giving and Sites, Logos will now move into the spotlight as the company’s primary public-facing brand encompassing the Logos Bible Study App, Proclaim, Lexham Press and other products.

Founded in 1991, Logos released the first Logos Bible Study App the following year, greatly advancing how theological learners consume Scripture. From there, the company expanded into digital books, other digital content and tools before formally changing its name to Faithlife in 2014. Yet, the Logos Bible Study App continues to be the name and product for which the company is best known.

“While we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished in the church management space, it’s time to return to what we’ve always done best — continuing to develop a robust slate of Bible study applications and content,” said Phil Gons, Head of Product. “Logos recognizes the importance of responding to users’ needs and adapting to the rapidly changing world around us where technology solutions are more important in supporting ministry expansion than ever before.”

Logos remains the industry leader in using technology to amplify the way pastors, scholars, students and lifelong learners worldwide deepen their understanding of the Word of God.

“We’re returning our focus to what has always been our primary mission — taking people deeper into the Bible,” noted Vik Rajagopal, Chief Executive Officer. “We’re excited to lean into the long and respected history of Logos as we strive to aid both individuals who have used our platform for years as well as new users who will discover simplified and amplified theological learning.”

Logos’s vision is to improve biblical understanding and accessibility for every Christian around the world and assist anyone with a desire to dive deeper into the intricacies of God’s Word. With today’s announcement, they are now going back to focusing on that passion.

About Logos
Logos is the most popular brand in the world for Christians looking to go deeper in their Bible study. Since its launch in 1992, millions of pastors, scholars, students and lifelong learners have used the Logos platform to write sermons and papers, prepare small group lessons, explore tough or complex topics and study the Bible carefully, digging deep for the riches found inside. Enjoyed by renowned leaders including John Piper, Christine Caine, Bishop Charles E. Blake, Dr. David Jeremiah, Justo González, Miles McPherson and Lisa Bevere, to name a few, Logos enables users to obtain seminary-level knowledge and training anytime, anywhere and on just about any device.

Thomas Nelson announces The Breathe Life Bible in partnership with Michele Clark Jenkins and Stephanie Perry Moore

June 26, 2023 by Sheri Toomb

A new Bible edition focused on putting faith into action.

Nashville, Tenn., June 2023 – Thomas Nelson, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, announces its partnership with Michele Clark Jenkins and Stephanie Perry Moore to develop The Breathe Life Bible. The project is scheduled to release in February 2024. This is their third Bible project with Thomas Nelson.

“After the tragic death of George Floyd, I began to ask the Lord, ‘What shall we do in the face of continued injustice and oppression?’” said Jenkins. “Stephanie and I began to talk about it and seek the Lord for answers. That led to the creation of this Bible.”

The Breathe Life Bible is designed to help readers put their faith into action as they study Scripture through the lens of the BREATHE acronym—Believe, Reconcile, Exalt, Act, Trust, Hope, and Elevate. Among its many features, The Breathe Life Bible includes articles exploring each of these seven aspects of BREATHE, Q&A formatted articles addressing difficult life situations and short biographical sketches of 49 different biblical people.

“This Bible was created specifically for people of color and others who have felt marginalized,” said Jenkins. “It navigates the Word of God to bring light to real life issues. It seeks to replace helplessness with active faith, with the peace and promises found in God’s Word by connecting Scripture to experience, and biblical truth to daily life.”
The commentary and features of The Breathe Life Bible draw on the wisdom and experience of 23 leaders who are deeply invested in addressing issues of justice with biblical truth:

  • Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King
  • Ambassador Andrew Young
  • Bishop Hezekiah Walker
  • Bishop Marvin Sapp
  • Bishop Vashti McKenzie
  • Pastor Debra L. Morton
  • Bishop Kenneth Ulmer
  • Rev. Matthew Wesley Williams
  • Dr. Thelma Thomas Daley
  • Derrick Johnson
  • Dr. Charrita Danly Quimby
  • Rev. Dr. Eric Lee
  • Pastor Derrick Moore
  • Dr. Arthur Satterwhite
  • Pastor Tommy Kyllonen
  • Pastor Tommy Stevenson
  • Dr. LaKeesha Walrond
  • Min. De’Leice Drane
  • First Lady Jamell Meeks
  • S. James Guitard
  • Dr. Lakeba Williams
  • Rev. Walter Kimbrough
  • Jekalyn Carr

“I’m grateful for the team of editors and writers who created the notes for TheBreathe Life Bible,” said Philip Nation, vice president and publisher of Bibles for Thomas Nelson. “This is an edition that leads us to put action to our faith. I hope that their work will give readers greater courage to stand strong during days that feel overwhelming, shed light on the dark places of this world, and activate us to walk boldly in faith.”

The New King James Version (NKJV) is a bestselling modern “word-for-word” biblical translation. It balances the literary beauty and familiarity of the King James tradition with an extraordinary commitment to preserving the grammar and structure of the underlying biblical languages.

Michele Clark Jenkins is the author of She Speaks, a former HBO and Black Family Channel executive, and acts as the Senior Director, Consulting Group for Griffin & Strong, P.C.

Stephanie Perry Moore is a bestselling author of 80 novels and is the showrunner for The Cool and the Strong, a scripted SCETV/PBS show based off her newest book series, Magic Strong. Together, Jenkins and Moore are the cofounders and leaders of Sisters in Faith, a ministry devoted to encouraging and empowering African American women with God’s Word.

Riggins Rights Management celebrates 20th anniversary as Paul Hendrickson joins board

June 26, 2023 by Sheri Toomb

June 2023 marks twenty years since Riggins Rights Management began serving the Christian publishing community.

The company was started by Cindy Riggins in 2003 after ten years as Rights Director at Thomas Nelson. Her goal was to help other companies proactively market their subsidiary rights, link publishers acquiring rights to client copyright holders, then properly manage the full rights process and compliance.

The company first began representing Integrity Publishers, then Abingdon Press and AMG soon followed. Through the years, they have represented over thirty clients, with 24 current clients.  They represent a broad Christian theological spectrum from Evangelical to Mainline Protestant, Messianic Jewish, and Catholic…a mosaic of inspirational content within the Christian faith.  Several clients (Abingdon, AMG, B&H, New Growth Press, Iron Stream Media, No Greater Joy, Upper Room, and Warner Christian Resources) have remained clients for over fifteen years. Their full client list is available at www.rigginsrights.com.

But what is most important is the results.  Clients have expanded their global reach through rights sales, licensing partners around the world have great products in their own language or format, and millions of lives have been reached through the products.  In fact, Riggins Rights Management has issued over 8,500 agreements in 75 languages, resulting in 10+ million products distributed and possibly impacting 20+ million lives around the world.

The company has grown to become a global team that provides over 100 years of combined rights experience. Four of the team are US-based and two team members live outside the US; one covers Europe from Ukraine and another covers Africa and Latin America from Brazil. If you would like to evaluate if they can be of service to your company, contact Cindy Riggins at cindy@rigginsrights.com

In addition to industry veteran Carolyn Weidmayer, Paul Hendrickson joined the Riggins Rights Management Board of Directors this month. Paul has worked with Riggins Rights Management as a client and a licensee, so understands their business well.  Paul served as the general manager of the Hendrickson Publishing Group (HPG), which included the Rose Publishing imprint, from 2013 to 2023. HPG is noted for original biblical language materials, academic reference titles, and a wide variety of Bible products. Paul also served as director of new business development for Christian Book Distributors, LLC, the largest internet and catalog retailer of exclusively Christian products. Paul has held numerous board positions including serving on the Board of Directors for the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. Prior to the Christian publishing industry, Paul was a managing partner of Creative Information Concepts (CIC), an international management consulting company, for over 25 years.

Riggins Rights Management serves as the rights department for over 20 Christian publishers. They are a “business-to-business” service linking inspirational copyright owners and publishers acquiring rights for publication in different formats or languages, then managing the full licensing and compliance process. They have issued over 8,500 agreements in 75 languages, resulting in 10+ million products distributed and possibly impacting 20+ million lives around the world.
