Christian bestseller lists released for August
ECPA has posted the monthly Christian bestseller lists for August in 15 categories, based on sales data from NPD Bookscan. Lysa TerKeurst has five titles in the Top 50 list, with Forgiving What You Can’t Forget placing as #5.
Program announced for ECPA’s Publishing University; Nov. 16-17 in Nashville
ECPA PubU returns to Lipscomb University in Nashville on November 16-17, gathering Christian publishing professionals in more than 30 sessions, in training tracks based on publishing roles such as – DESIGN, EDITORIAL, MARKETING, PRODUCTION & OPERATIONS. In addition, the second annual CHILDREN’S BOOK SUMMIT will be included. Many of the sessions and speakers are already posted on the event site, in the Sessions menu. The early bird rate is available until September 30.

Due to the time difference between the U.S. and Australia, ECPA president Jeff Crosby’s conversation with author and Australian church leader Mark Sayers was taped a few days ago, and will air this Friday at 10 AM CDT for ECPA members. The session is based on Sayers’ book, “A Non-Anxious Presence: How a Changing and Complex World will Create a Remnant of Renewed Christian Leaders” (Moody). After the recording session, Jeff reflected, “Rarely do you get the opportunity to know the outcome of a webinar, before it is presented – but my conversation with Mark was very profound and moving – and I encourage every ECPA member who is able, to sign up for this free one-hour webinar.” Those who register will also receive the recording.
Christianity Today names Russell Moore Editor in Chief
Russell Moore will step into the role of editor in chief of Christianity Today on September 1. “I have held the editor in chief position in stewardship for a brief time,” states CT president and CEO Timothy Dalrymple, “but it needs someone to inhabit it fully, and Moore exhibits that way of following Jesus that is deeply rooted, beautifully orthodox, thoughtful and compassionate, and committed to serving the kingdom even at great cost to ourselves.”

Nominations for ECPA’s 2022 Top Shelf Book Cover Awards will be accepted for only one more week, until Monday, August 15. In the program’s 10th anniversary year, the award will be presented to top covers in four categories, and each submitting publisher can nominate a program judge. Winners will be announced at ECPA PubU on November 16 in Nashville.

IVP Kids line grows to twelve children’s books
Since the launch of “Saint Nicholas the Giftgiver” in October 2021, InterVarsity Press (IVP) has continued to build its IVP Kids imprint. The line now includes seven picture books for children ages four to eight with five more contracted to release in 2023 and 2024.
