ECPA names ten industry emerging leaders for PubU scholarship
ECPA has announced the recipients of the Emerging Leaders scholarship program for ECPA PubU, the industry’s training and networking event for Christian publishing professionals. Sponsored by NPD Book and ECPA, nominations were made by Christian publishers with a goal to invest in up and coming industry professionals identified as future leaders. Nominees were considered based on their current and potential contributions to their companies.

HarperCollins Leadership (HCL), a new imprint providing integrated, values-based material, will launch on October 10, 2017. The imprint will publish and produce content designed for individuals looking for inspiration, insight, and tools to help activate their inherent leadership potential. In addition to traditional book publishing, HCL will focus on creating materials that can be consumed efficiently and concurrently in a variety of formats. InterVarsity Press is pleased to welcome Katelyn Beaty as a freelance acquisitions editor and to announce the promotion of Ethan McCarthy to assistant editor. As a freelance acquisitions editor for IVP, Beaty will acquire six to eight books a year and work at IVP one day a week to meet with the publishing committee and editorial team about forthcoming titles. Beaty is an editor at large with Christianity Today, where she previously served as the magazine’s youngest and first female managing editor.

Zondervan, through its children’s publishing division, Zonderkidz, announced today it is joining forces with three Detroit area partners to bring a new faith-based literacy program to students entering kindergarten through third grade. Zondervan is the first Christian publisher to spearhead a program and partner with community groups to address the growing literacy hurdles facing communities nationwide, and their work begins in metro Detroit.

Singapore to host World Conference of Christian Publishing: LittWorld 2018
MAI is pleased to announce LittWorld 2018 will again take place in Singapore, October 28 to November 2, 2018. Every three years, MAI convenes LittWorld, the only international conference of its kind, providing intensive training on strategic, publishing-related topics. The Art of Writing conference, held after PubU on November 8 at Lipscomb University in Nashville, is designed to bring Christian creatives and publishing curators together for a half day of intensive seminars that celebrate the creative life, provide practical tips for overcoming challenges in a rapidly-changing industry, and answer questions authors are asking. October Christian bestsellers released: New is the New Normal
The trend of new releases making their presence known on ECPA’s bestsellers lists continued in October, reflecting September POS data captured by NPD BookScan. The #1 and #2 books on the Top 50 Bestsellers list were released in September—Max Lucado’s newest book, Anxious for Nothing (Thomas Nelson) topped the list, with Jonathan Cahn’s The Paradigm (Frontline/Charisma Media) coming in right behind.
The ‘She Reads Truth™ Bible’ Tops 100,000 Units in First Six Months of Sales
Holman Bibles announces the 'She Reads Truth Bible' has sold more than 100,000 units in its first six months of sales. One of the first Bibles to publish exclusively in the Christian Standard Bible® translation, the 'She Reads Truth Bible' debuted on the ECPA Bestseller list for Bibles in May 2017, holding the top three slots. The 'She Reads Truth Bible' has appeared on that list each month since its release, and sales are expected to strengthen during the holiday season.

Tim Tebow kicks off the school year with book report contest
In conjunction with the release of his new book, 'Shaken: The Young Reader’s Edition – Fighting to Stand Strong No Matter What Comes Your Way' (WaterBrook, September 12, 2017), Heisman Trophy winner, former NFL quarterback and now professional baseball player Tim Tebow is launching a book report contest that is running from September 26, 2017, through January 8, 2018. Aimed at youth ages 10 to 15 years old, this contest encourages reading and writing and reminds them of their identity in Jesus.

Ed Stetzer inks two-book deal with InterVarsity Press
Ed Stetzer, executive director of the Billy Graham Center and the Billy Graham Chair of Church, Mission, and Evangelism at Wheaton College, will publish two books with InterVarsity Press on the past, present, future, and trends of evangelicalism. The first book is set to release in the spring of 2019. “Ed Stetzer is one of the church’s most perceptive thought leaders today,” said Al Hsu, senior editor for IVP Books.
