Amy Kavelaris signature art and poetry on display in new book, “Good Morning, Little One: New Mercies and Prayers to Carry You Through the Day”

January 24, 2022 by Sheri Toomb

Elegant picture book encourages families to start each day with fresh hope

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 13, 2022) – Amy Kavelaris’ bestselling book Good Night, My Darling Dear warmed the hearts of families around the world during their bedtime routines. Now Kavelaris shares a beautiful message of hope to create a calm, peaceful and loving start each morning for children with her new picture book, Good Morning, Little One: New Mercies and Prayers to Carry You Through the Day, releasing Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Kavelaris is an artist, designer and entrepreneur who has been capturing nature’s beauty since she was old enough to hold a pencil. Captivated most by the study of light, Kavelaris vividly recalls sketching and writing poetry while sitting in a tree overlooking a lake as a child. Now her work can be spotted in Target, Walmart, Anthropologie, Altar’d State, Better Home & Gardens as well as in homes around the globe.

Kavelaris’ painting style for children is showcased on every page of Good Morning, Little One: New Mercies and Prayers to Carry You Through the Day — whimsical & playful with a touch of bohemian elements that invites viewers into a charming and delightfully elegant experience.

“With every book that I release, a piece of my soul is tethered within the binding and this project is quite possibly my favorite to date,” said Kavelaris. “Let’s equip our babes for the days ahead and show them there’s fresh hope in each new day, when we seek Him.”

Good Morning, Little One: New Mercies and Prayers to Carry You Through the Day reassures children that God is carrying them throughout the day with morning affirmations and frame-worthy illustrations. Featuring gorgeous floral art, adorable animal drawings and words of hope, Good Morning, Little One reminds children of God’s love, security and peace for the day ahead.

Kavelaris wrote Good Morning, Little One during the pandemic, sharing that it was her 3-year- old daughter who inspired her. “Throughout the lockdowns last year, our then discerning 3-year-old kept randomly asking ‘Is God Carrying Us?’,” recalls Kavelaris. “Slightly bewildered by her awareness, my heart skipped a beat at the opportunity to share His Word with her. Yes, His scripture is replete with this Truth & there’s even more! Thus began the writing process of our new Good Morning book.”

Families will find soothing nature scenes of little lambs, bunnies and puppies awakening with the sun. The playful critters and woodland animals enjoy each morning by taking notice of the reminders of God’s scriptural promises. By taking notice of their surroundings in nature, the woodland creatures are reminded that He finds us when we’re lost; protects us under His wings; sings over us, carries us, and delights in us. Good Morning, Little One will show children to be mindful of God’s presence every day.

A beautiful companion to Kavelaris first picture book, Good Night, My Darling Dear, this inspirational picture book:

  • reassures children ages 4 to 8 that God carries them through good days, hard days, and anxious days
  • encourages children to begin the day with courage in their heart
  • offers an interactive element where readers can look for fourteen scripture references hidden within the pages
  • shares biblical promises of God’s love, purpose, and protection
  • gives children confidence to be brave in scary and unexpected situations

Good Morning, Little One makes a touching keepsake gift book Easter baskets, baby showers, and other new beginnings such as adoption, a new sibling, or one’s first day of school.

Good Morning, Little One: New Mercies and Prayers to Carry You Through the Day (ISBN: 9781400231942) releases on February 8, 2022 everywhere books are sold.

Grammy® winner Mandisa to release “Out of the Dark: My Journey Through the Shadows to Find God’s Joy” via K-LOVE Books, March 15, 2022

January 24, 2022 by Sheri Toomb

RETURNS TO “GOOD MORNING AMERICA” MARCH 16 FOR FIRST EXCLUSIVE TV INTERVIEW WITH ROBIN ROBERTS

MEDIA REVIEW COPY CLICK HERE

Nashville, TN… January 14, 2022 – GRAMMY®, Dove and two-time K-LOVE Fan Award winner Mandisa is set to release Out of the Dark: My Journey Through The Shadows To Find God’s Joy March 15, 2022. The personal memoir marks Mandisa’s inaugural title in partnership with K-LOVE Books. She’ll discuss the project for the first time on television on “Good Morning America” March 16 when she sits down with Robin Roberts for an exclusive interview. The book is now available for pre-order HERE, and those who purchase directly through K-LOVE Books will receive an additional bonus chapter.  A media review copy is available here.

Borrowing the title of her fifth studio album, which features hits “Unfinished” and “Bleed The Same,” Out of the Dark dives deep into the singer’s battle with depression and anxiety. After losing a close friend to cancer—a friend for whom she wrote her award-winning song, “Overcomer”—Mandisa descended into a dark pit of depression, isolating herself from family and friends, and turning to her familiar friend, food, for comfort.

Clinging to the hope of Psalm 40 in her overwhelming darkness, she slowly began to recognize cracks of light where God was at work. “I really believe that this book is just another part of how God is using this chapter in my life of bringing me out of the dark. My favorite part of this passage of Scripture is in verse 3: ‘Many will see what He has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord,’” she explains, referencing Psalm 40. “That’s what I see this book being about—me telling how God lifted me out of the pit, and letting people know He did it for me; He can do it for you.”

With the same warmth and vulnerability she exudes in her songs, in Out of the Dark, Mandisa opens up about her mental health struggles, walking through grief, and the role shame has played in her narrative. The fresh title followsher first book, Idoleyes: My New Perspective on Faith, Fat & Fame, written shortly after her time on “American Idol” and focusing on her battle with weight, food addiction and body image.

Out of the Dark picks up where Idoleyes left off, telling the rest of the story. Across 256 pages, Mandisa invites readers on the journey she’s taken from the time she first fell in love with Jesus, to her rise as an acclaimed recording artist and beyond, as well as the disappointing and challenging moments she’s experienced along the way. Through it all, Mandisa candidly shares the consistent healing she’s found through God’s faithful comfort and presence. With her new book, she hopes her redemption story can provide a piece of redemptive healing in someone else’s story.

Now an advocate for mental health because of what she’s personally experienced, Mandisa also explores the often taboo topic and how to navigate it from a Christian perspective with licensed therapist Laura Williams on AccessMore’s “Out of the Dark” podcast. Listen to the first two seasons HERE.

Learn more, and pre-order Out of the Dark: My Journey Through The Shadows To Find God’s Joy HERE.

What People Are Saying About Out of the Dark:

“As Mandisa shares her low points from her journey in the dark, it becomes evident that she trusts the Lord to be her light. We want Him to be your light, too. And I believe Mandisa, through her bravery and transparency, will serve as a guide, showing many the way out of the dark.”
—Natalie Grant, GRAMMY®-nominated recording artist and Dove Award winner

“Since the first day I met Mandisa, she has been nothing but original and courageous. My touring family is better when she is out with us. She genuinely supports each artist that takes the stage, as well as every crew member behind the stage. In a single word, I would say without hesitation that she is one of the most authentic people I have ever met. Her heart is to help others, and in this book, she vulnerably shares her own real life experiences and struggles in an attempt to provide insight and love others well.”
—TobyMac, GRAMMY® Award-winning artist

IVP expands on historic Book Club with introduction of IVP Book Drop

January 24, 2022 by Sheri Toomb

WESTMONT, IL– With more than one hundred thousand members throughout its lifetime, IVP’s Press-o-matic, which came to be known as the IVP Book Club, has been operating for fifty-seven of IVP’s seventy-five years, making it the longest-running book club specifically for Christians. IVP is now expanding on the history of the Book Club with the introduction of IVP Book Drop. This new monthly book club will provide resources for readers who want to grow spiritually, hear from diverse voices, and start powerful conversations on today’s most important cultural topics.

Lorraine Caulton, director of creative and customer engagement for IVP, said that the IVP Book Club has always provided relevant content for Christians. However, changes in the industry, the rise of social media, greater awareness of diversity, a decline in church attendance, and greater global consciousness caused her team to think about another option. “We didn’t want a replacement to the IVP Book Club but instead wanted to provide an alternative that provides excellent content for who we are and the world we live in now,” Caulton said.

Justin Paul Lawrence, IVP’s vice president of sales and marketing, said, “IVP Book Drop is the latest innovation from IVP to get our resources directly onto the book piles of readers. While our longstanding Book Club and set collecting programs are continuing, I’m glad that Lorraine Caulton and her team were able to create this new way of reaching and blessing readers.”

The IVP Book Club has traditionally included two new IVP books every four weeks for subscribers, plus a thirty percent discount on other titles. IVP Book Drop subscribers will receive a new title each month. The books will be thoughtfully selected resources written by emerging voices and well-known figures who are diverse in both ethnicity and gender.

The first title that IVP Book Drop subscribers receive is the award-winning Reading While Black: African American Biblical Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope by Esau McCaulley.

Other Book Drop titles include:

  • God Speaks Through Wombs: Poems on God’s Unexpected Coming by Drew Jackson
  • The Gap Decade: When You’re Technically an Adult but Really Don’t Feel Like It Yet by Katie Schnack
  • When Everything’s on Fire: Faith Forged from the Ashes by Brian Zahnd
  • Restless Devices: Recovering Personhood, Presence, and Place in the Digital Age by Felicia Wu Song
  • Eyes to See: Recognizing God’s Common Grace in an Unsettled World by Tim Muehlhoff
  • Who Moved My Neighborhood?: Leading Congregations Through Gentrification and Economic Change by Mark E. Strong

“I have worked on the IVP Book Club for more than twenty years,” said Caulton. “The IVP Book Club has a strong legacy and continues to serve thousands of Christians. Now with the addition of IVP Book Drop we hope to reach a growing number of Christians who are interested in reading from diverse voices and engaging faithfully in the world. Their understanding of the issues facing our culture alongside a deep faith will continuing to impact our diverse and changing world.”

Ann Voskamp to publish debut Children’s book, “Your Brave Song,” with Tyndale Kids in Spring 2023

January 24, 2022 by Sheri Toomb

Carol Stream, Ill. (January 14, 2022) — Tyndale House Publishers (@tyndalehouse) announced today that Ann Voskamp will publish her book Your Brave Song with Tyndale Kids, to release in the spring of 2023. In Voskamp’s debut children’s book, Una Rayne has a song in her heart, and that song can change the world. Young readers will travel with Una through her day and see how her sweet song changes a hard day into a day full of joy. This book demonstrates the power of one person to change the world around her. It is precisely for such a time as this.

With the release of this book, multiple New York Times bestselling and award-winning author Ann Voskamp shares her extraordinary talent and heart with kids. Beyond her bestselling books, Ann hosts her A Holy Experience ministry on her website, where she shares the story of Jesus and how his story and the Greatest Story ever told completely changed hers. On her site, she keeps “writing it out here every day, the words [she is] seeking to live—about this wondrously messy, everyday-holy life . . . about finding the beauty and quiet, about slowing to see the sacred in the chaos, the Cross in the clothespin, the flame in the bush.”

In sharing about her upcoming children’s book, Ann said, “The world needs hope, now more than ever, and Una’s song points to hope and ultimately points to Jesus. Where better to start a hope revolution than in the hearts and minds of our precious children?”

Tyndale Kids associate publisher Linda Howard shared, “We are so thrilled to be working with Ann on her first children’s book. The beauty of the message and the corresponding illustrations will make this book an instant classic.”

Ann Voskamp is represented by Bill Jensen at William K. Jensen Literary Agency, and her upcoming book has been negotiated for international rights. For more information or for media inquiries, please contact Katie Dodillet, katiedodillet@tyndale.com.

Tyndale House Publishers releases “The Hiding Place: An Engaging Visual Journey,” the latest title in Tyndale’s Visual Journey series

January 24, 2022 by Sheri Toomb

Carol Steam, Ill. (January 14, 2022) — “The Hiding Place: An Engaging Visual Journey,” releasing on March 8 from Tyndale House Publishers, is the newest release in the Visual Journey series. This new release offers Corrie ten Boom’s heart-wrenching story as a mixed-media special edition; complete with rare family photos, accents of Dutch Delft–style design, artwork by Dutch artists, and personal ephemera from the ten Boom family archives. Hand-lettered inspirational quotes and Scripture combined with artwork reminiscent of World War II Europe make The Hiding Place come alive like never before. In a new preface, coauthor Elizabeth Sherrill shares insights on Corrie’s life and legacy.

As the reader experiences and connects with this unique, artfully designed Visual Journey, its pages become a canvas to chronicle their own story, struggles, and personal triumphs. The Hiding Place is Corrie ten Boom’s story of faith, forgiveness, and love for the persecuted Jewish community during the World War II Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland. Part of an underground resistance movement, Corrie and her family risked their lives to hide Jewish friends within a secret wall space of the Beje, their beloved clock shop and home in Haarlem, Netherlands. Her heroic actions eventually led to her arrest and imprisonment at Ravensbruck, the German Reich’s largest concentration camp for women.

Tyndale’s Visual Journey series is all about classic works reimagined for new audiences and repeat readers. These books use illustrations and artistically rendered quotes to complement and enhance the story. The Visual Journey easy-to-read format appeals to visual readers, reluctant readers, and repeat readers who wish to experience these stories in a brand-new way. Books in this series feature unique and “gifty” packaging, telling classic stories with full-color images, original watercolor paintings, and hand-lettered Scripture and quotes. Larger fonts and generous breathing space within the typesetting allow for a more comfortable reading experience.

The Hiding Place is the fourth book in the Visual Journey series (softcover, ISBN 978-1-4964-5610-6, $16.99). The first book in the series, Hinds’ Feet on High Places: An Engaging Visual Journey (softcover, ISBN 978-1-4964-2467-9, $15.99), released in Fall 2017 and has been a great success, winning a 2018 ECPA Top Shelf Book Cover Award and selling over 65,000 copies. It is proving to be a perennial seller.

Other editions of reimagined classics in this series include:

  • A Christmas Carol: An Engaging Visual Journey, ISBN 978-1-4964-4997-9
  • Les Misérables: An Engaging Visual Journey, ISBN 978-1-4964-4296-3

January 24, 2022 by Sheri Toomb

In March, a trio of new products will be added to the publisher’s beloved A Child’s First Bible line.

Carol Stream, Ill. (January 18, 2022) — On March 8, Tyndale House Publishers (@tyndalehouse) will release A Child’s First Bedtime Prayers: 25 Heart-to-Heart Talks with Jesus, written by Dandi Daley Mackall and illustrated by Cee Biscoe. Two illustrated board books, Sleepyhead Prayer and Thanks for Little Things, which contain related content, will release alongside the hardcover prayer book. The three products are the latest additions to Tyndale’s A Child’s First Bible line.

Written in winsome rhyming stanzas with language accessible for children ages three to five, these books encourage children to draw closer to Jesus as they talk and listen during prayer time. Each of the 25 prayer conversations in A Child’s First Bedtime Prayers focuses on a different topic. These conversations include prayers for children to pray, along with answers from Jesus, which are rooted in Scripture and are full of encouragement, comfort, and age-appropriate teaching. Sleepyhead Prayer reminds children that Jesus is always with them—both when they go to bed and when they wake up. Thanks for Little Things leads children into a prayer of thankfulness for wonderfully ordinary things.

D. J. Williams to publish Beacon Hill series with Wander

January 24, 2022 by Sheri Toomb

Carol Stream, Ill. (January 19, 2022) — Tyndale House Publishers (@tyndalehouse) has announced that D. J. Williams will publish a three-book series with Wander, Tyndale’s YA imprint. The first book of the series, Forbidden City, will release in April of 2023.

Williams is the author of The Auctioneer, an adult thriller that garnered praise from Kirkus Reviews and Thriller Magazine, among others. He brings his suspense skill and love of adventure to his YA debut. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Williams’s experience as an expat and world traveler provided unique inspiration for the Beacon Hill series, which is set mainly throughout Asia but expands across the globe as the quest unfolds. Long-lasting friendships from his youth in Hong Kong were a spark for the characters in the series, with fuller inspiration coming from Williams’s desire to craft a supernatural, historical, and culturally diverse story rooted in our world.

The Beacon Hill series centers on Jack Reynolds and his circle of fellow students at an international boarding school in Hong Kong. Jack is estranged from his corrupt father and is struggling to accept the shocking death of his sister, Rachel. In a downward spiral, he must fight to answer the question of who killed Rachel as he battles against his addictive tendencies. The search for the truth leads Jack and his friends to discover a supernatural underground world and a secret society that is rising up to attack humanity. The Beacon Hill crew must locate a series of ancient treasures before their enemies can weaponize them.

Williams shared, “Having the opportunity to write the Beacon Hill series is a dream come true. It is a story that has resonated in my heart and soul for years, and to see the characters come to life on the page has been such a thrill. There are so many surprises already, and I’ve only just finished writing the first book! My hope is this series will grab readers in a unique way and inspire them along their life journey.”

Linda Howard, associate publisher of Tyndale Kids said, “A great story draws you in, introduces you to characters you deeply care about, and keeps you enthralled until the very end. D. J. tells great stories that meet all the criteria above, and we at Tyndale Wander are thrilled to be partnering with him on this series. Get ready to be captivated and pulled into the world of Beacon Hill.”

D.J. Williams is represented by Don Pape of Pape Commons. For more information or for media inquiries, please contact Madeline Daniels,madelinedaniels@tyndale.com.

(Jan. 20, 2022) — Tommy Nelson, the children’s division of Thomas Nelson Publishers, will release a delightful, new, illustrated picture book on March 1, 2022 in partnership with Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium, one of the top aquariums in the country. Edward and Annie: A Penguin Adventure focuses on the penguin field trips that went viral and took the world by storm as the COVID-19 pandemic first emerged. The book, which is now available for presale across several major vendors, is written by award-winning author and Chicago suburb resident Caryn Rivadeneira with charming artwork from accomplished illustrator Kat Tanis.

Rockhopper penguins Edward and Annie soared to superstar status in the spring of 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when Shedd Aquarium was closed to outside guests. Because there were no humans roaming, Edward and Annie could freely explore the exhibits and visit other aquatic animals across the building. Their adorable field trips, which are a regular part of the birds’ welfare plan at Shedd, were documented on video and soon after, went viral online, soliciting responses from all seven continents. This new children’s book beautifully captures their adventures, reminding readers that adventures are best enjoyed with a friend.

“Edward and Annie’s field trips illustrate the curiosity that the aquatic animal world can inspire in all of us,” said Peggy Sloan, Chief Animal Operations Officer at Shedd Aquarium. “We are thrilled to see Edward, Annie and so many other incredible Shedd residents immortalized in a new book that will inspire the next generation of animal lovers.”

Shedd Aquarium has also made a commitment that a portion of proceeds from the sale of this book will support penguin conservation in the wild and ongoing penguin care at Shedd Aquarium.

Beyond connecting nearly two million guests to the aquatic animal world each year, Shedd Aquarium is committed to scientific research, rescue and rehabilitation and aquatic conservation. The aquarium helped rehabilitate and release endangered African penguins in South Africa from 2014 until early 2020. Back at home, Shedd works alongside accredited aquariums and zoos to build genetically diverse and sustainable populations of Southern rockhopper and Magellanic penguins in human care.

About the book
When no one comes to visit the aquarium, penguin pair Edward and Annie ponder – “Where did everyone go?” This colorful romp through Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium takes children of all ages on an adventure of wonder through the marine world. As Edward and Annie explore the unknown parts of their aquarium home and meet the other wonderfully unique creatures living there, these penguin friends discover that the world is much bigger and more interesting than they ever knew. After much excitement and many surprises, they return to the penguin habitat for the best end to any day: a cozy rest at home.

Edward and Annie: A Penguin Adventure (ISBN: 9781400228287) is available for pre-order and will be released March 1, 2022 everywhere books are sold. Visit thomasnelson.com/p/edward-annie for more information.

About the author, Caryn Rivadeneira
Caryn Rivadeneira writes stories that spark wonder, fuel curiosity, and craft worlds that help kids find their place in this one. She is the author of books for children and adults, including the Moonbeam Award-winning Helper Hounds series, Grit and Grace: Heroic Women of the Bible, Edward and Annie: A Penguin Adventure, and Saints of Feather and Fang: How the Animals We Love and Fear Connect Us to God. Caryn lives in the western suburbs of Chicago with her husband, three kids, and two rescued pit bulls.

About the illustrator, Katy Tanis
Katy Tanis is an illustrator, explorer, and children’s book author. She lives and works at the Jersey shore. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in biology through Miami University in partnership with Wildlife Conservation Society. She spends most of her days chasing deadlines but occasionally wanders to far-off places, like Madagascar, where she chases primates instead. Her work is inspired by specific ecosystems and the wonderful webs of life that they contain. She has a soft spot for the weirdos of the animal kingdom, and she’s never met a color she didn’t like.

About Shedd Aquarium
The John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago sparks compassion, curiosity and conservation for the aquatic animal world. Home to 32,000 aquatic animals representing 1,500 species of fishes, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, birds and mammals from waters around the globe, Shedd is a recognized leader in animal care, conservation education and research. An accredited member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), Shedd is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institute and is supported by the people of Chicago, the State of Illinois and the Chicago Park District.

Museum of the Bible and Tyndale House sign 180-book deal, forming a new, long-term partnership

January 24, 2022 by Sheri Toomb

WASHINGTON D.C. and CAROL STREAM, Ill. (January 21, 2022) — Today, Museum of the Bible and Tyndale House Publishers announce a publishing partnership based on their shared commitment to invite all people to engage with the Bible.

Over the next decade, this partnership will create 180 new products and digital resources that feature original content from Museum of the Bible and new Tyndale resources enhanced by Museum of the Bible content.

“We knew during the planning stage for Museum of the Bible that the biggest impact would result from promoting our resources far beyond its walls,” said Harry Hargrave, CEO of Museum of the Bible. “From our curriculum, videos, books, and digital content to our films and podcasts, we reach millions more internationally than can visit in any given year. We are thankful to have such a robust publishing partner help us with an exciting new wave of resources.”

The first line of slated books builds on successful resources already in print. Titles will be released annually with the goal of reaching 180 by 2032. Given its recent acquisition of Rose Publishing and Hendrickson Publishers, Tyndale House is poised to develop and distribute these museum-enhanced books to an even wider readership.

“We look forward to combining the rich resources of Museum of the Bible with Tyndale’s resources and publishing expertise to share about the global impact of the Bible,” said Jeff Johnson, Tyndale’s Chief Administrative Officer.

Alongside Johnson and Hargrave, Jerry Pattengale, PhD, founding scholar and senior advisor to the president of Museum of the Bible and professor at Indiana Wesleyan University, will work closely with Tyndale on the publication of each volume. “Tyndale House exemplifies a successful publishing institution,” said Pattengale. “It continues to expand and meet the needs and desires of those seeking Bible-based material, concepts, and inspiration.”

Noted New Testament scholar Christian Askeland, PhD, will partner with Pattengale in representing the museum’s content team. Askeland, known for exposing “Gospel of Jesus’ Wife” as forged, is the museum’s senior researcher.

Museum of the Bible is an innovative, global, educational institution whose purpose is to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible. More information on Museum of the Bible is available here.

Tyndale House Publishers has impacted generations of readers since its founding in 1962. Tyndale’s mission is to introduce the Bible to as many people as possible. More information on Tyndale is available here.
