Grammy® Award-winning artist Chris Tomlin celebrates 20 years of beloved song, “How Great Is Our God” with new book

March 18, 2024 by Sheri Toomb

“In this wonderful book, Chris does more than sing; he teaches. He shows us how to expand our view of God through worship. He calls us out of the me-driven world and into a worship-led life. As God grows larger, self and even our struggles seem smaller.”
— Max Lucado, New York Times Best-Selling Author

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 18, 2024) – For over two decades, GRAMMY® award winner Chris Tomlin has been recognized as one of the most successful worship leaders around the world. According to TIME magazine, he is heralded as “the most often sung artist” and recently celebrated the historic achievement of holding the #1 position on a radio chart for more than three years during his career.

In his new book, How Great is Our God: Living a Worship-Led Life in a Me-Driven World (K-LOVE Books, March 19, 2024), Tomlin celebrates 20 years of one of his most impactful songs and invites readers to redefine worship beyond music. Tomlin uses his experience as a worship artist and impressive songbook to provide readers with tools for living a God-centered life.

Tomlin and co-author JD Walt work together to reveal all that is to gain by making God and others the focus as they invite readers to remember the true meaning of worship inside and outside of the church and offer guidance for incorporating worship every day.

“As a young man God had placed a calling and mission on my life to help give people a voice to worship God,” said Tomlin. “Over the years of writing songs and leading worship around the world, I have found myself on a journey of learning what it means to truly live a worship-led life. Today I am excited and humbled to announce that I have written a book with a hope and prayer that it helps guide a deeper and more tangible understanding of what it means for us all to live a worship-led life. The book is titled “How Great is Our God: Living a Worship-Led Life in a Me-Driven World” and I pray and believe that the content in this book will have a meaningful impact on your relationship with God, yourself, and others.”

How Great is Our God is a powerful guidebook for what Tomlin describes as the upward, inward, and outward movement of worship. From his first song to his last, Tomlin uses lyrics to encourage readers to maintain heavenly vision and step into our calling of who God created us to be.

The book announcement accompanies the news of Tomlin’s Holy Forever World Tour kicking off in April 2024. This is Tomlin’s first major global headlining tour in over a decade as he will embark across the United States and beyond, including England, Ireland, and Germany.=

How Great is Our God is now available for preorder nationwide. For coverage or interview requests, please contact christina@epic.inc.

Four IVP titles named finalists for 2023 INDIES Book of the Year Awards

March 11, 2024 by Sheri Toomb

March 2024 | LISLE, IL—InterVarsity Press (IVP) is thrilled to announce that four IVP titles have been recognized as finalists for the 2023 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards. The honored titles are All God’s Children by Terence Lester, Rethinking the Police by Daniel Reinhardt, Nobody’s Mother by Sandra L. Glahn, and Tell Her Story by Nijay K. Gupta.

IVP books were chosen as finalists in the following categories:

Multicultural (Adult Nonfiction)

All God’s Children: How Confronting Buried History Can Build Racial Solidarity

Community activist and founder of Love Beyond Walls, Terence Lester shares the buried history of the struggles Black people have faced against unjust systems. He tells powerful stories of courage, injustice, pain, and triumph, including ones from his own history. He also unpacks the sociological and cultural dynamics of unconscious bias and inattentional ignorance that keep us apart, and how they can be overcome. This honest account of what it’s like to be Black in America paves the way for the church to move beyond showing support from a distance toward loving one another in long-term solidarity, advocacy, and friendship.

Lester’s books include When We Stand, I See You, Getting Past Stuck, Simple Prayers for Hurting People, and Identity Theft. He also coauthored a book with his daughter, Zion, titled Zion Learns to See.

Political and Social Sciences (Adult Nonfiction)

Rethinking the Police: An Officer’s Confession and the Pathway to Reform

Through personal experiences and the mentorship of Black Christians, former police officer Daniel Reinhardt’s eyes were opened to the dehumanization, systemic racism, and brutality endemic to US police culture. Laying out a history of policing in the United States, Reinhardt offers a new model based on servant leadership, not dominance and control.

Women’s Studies (Adult Nonfiction)

Nobody’s Mother: Artemis of the Ephesians in Antiquity and the New Testament

Based on groundbreaking research and new data about Artemis of the Ephesians, Nobody’s Mother by Sandra L. Glahn demonstrates how better background information supports faithful interpretation. Combining spiritual autobiography with scholarly exploration, Glahn takes readers on a journey to ancient Ephesus and across early church history. Unveiling the cult of Artemis and how early Christians related to it can give us a clearer sense of the type of radical, countercultural fellowship the New Testament writers intended Christ’s church to be.

Women’s Studies (Adult Nonfiction)

Tell Her Story: How Women Led, Taught, and Ministered in the Early Church

For centuries, discussions of early Christianity have focused on male leaders. But there is ample evidence in the New Testament that women were respected leaders at the frontier of the gospel ministry. Nijay K. Gupta shines light on the inspiring contributions of women such as Phoebe, Prisca, Junia, Nympha, and more.

As part of its mission to discover, review, and share the best books from university and independent publishers, Foreword Magazine Inc. hosts an annual awards program each year. After more than twenty-four hundred entries spread across fifty-five genres were submitted for consideration, the list of finalists was determined by Foreword’s editorial team. Winners in each genre, along with Editor’s Choice Prize winners and Foreword’s Indie Publisher of the Year, will be announced in June 2024.

Ellie Holcomb set to release expanded edition of devotional, and new Psalms album

March 11, 2024 by Sheri Toomb

AWARD-WINNING SONGWRITER AND BESTSELLING AUTHOR ELLIE HOLCOMB IS SET TO RELEASE A NEW PSALMS ALBUM, ALL OF MY DAYS, ON APRIL 12TH AND AN EXPANDED EDITION OF HER DEVOTIONAL, FIGHTING WORDS, ON APRIL 16TH

NASHVILLE, TENN. (MARCH 08, 2024) Award-winning songwriter and bestselling author Ellie Holcomb will release a brand new Psalms project, All of My Days(Capitol CMG), on April 12th along with a new expanded limited edition of her bestselling devotional, Fighting Words (B&H Publishing,) on April 16th.

Holcomb’s new album, All of My Days, is a beautiful collection of curated Psalms that have personally carried her through difficult times as well as played an encouraging role in the lives of her listeners through her “Memory Mondays” where she sings Scripture verses to songs each week. Fans can presave the album and listen to the first song, “Where Can I Go – Psalm 139” here.

Holcomb’s Fighting Words: Expanded Limited Edition features 10 bonus devotionals, new interior flourishes, and an extra art piece inside. Seven Psalms included in the expanded edition will have a song to accompany it from All of My Days. Preorder a copy of this limited edition here.

“I’ve always wanted to make a Psalms project,” shares Holcomb. “Singing Scripture has been equivalent to a physical act of burying seeds of hope and truth and light deep in my heart. The joy and comfort that come when those little melodies surface, especially during the dark or hard moments in my story, Scripture songs have been an encouragement for me over the years.”

She adds, “It is so humbling to hear how many have resonated with Fighting Words. I’m so delighted that we’re now sending out this extended version that includes so many of my ‘lifer’ verses. The book now feels like a stack of paper Ebenezers, little reminders of how God has deeply met and encouraged me through the Scriptures.”

Celebrating the upcoming releases of two very special projects, Ellie Holcomb was honored this week by her label and publisher for career achievements. Holcomb has surpassed more than 500,000 copies sold of her books (three children’s books and a devotional book) and has amassed more than 500 million career streams for her music.

“We could not be more thrilled to celebrate Ellie’s remarkable publishing success,” shares Dr. Devin Maddox, Publisher, B&H Publishing Group. “With her bright hope, kind heart, incredible talent, and diligent work ethic, it’s no wonder readers feel so served by her various B&H books. We are grateful to partner with her as she shares God’s love with so many children and adults!”

“It takes a very special creative to accomplish what Ellie Holcomb has done as both a recording artist and an author. All of us at CCMG are so proud to work with her and congratulate her on these major career milestones,” says Brad O’Donnell, Co-President of CCMG.

“It is such an honor to be able to partner with Ellie”, adds CCMG Co-President Hudson Plachy. “We are so thrilled for all of her success as a songwriter, author and musician.”

Angie Orth should have had at least 2.5 kids by now—everyone else back home did. Without a potential husband in sight or the hope of a photogenic brood to show off, she was beginning to wonder if God forgot about her.

With her thirtieth birthday looming, Angie was at a crossroads. Should she hightail it home to find a man like a “good girl” or continue running the rat race in New York City and hope for the best?

Orth chose Plan C: Escape! She quit her job, launched a travel blog, and booked a one-way ticket to the South Pacific while her Southern family gnashed their teeth in protest. But the timing couldn’t have been worse for a solo trip: she found herself dodging tsunamis, earthquakes, revolutions, grabby men, and incessant DMs from her worrywart relatives over a journey that spanned five continents. In the midst of her global misadventures, Orth’s hilarious, vulnerable journey of faith and wanderlust demonstrates that God’s plan is so much more creative than society’s expectations.

By the time readers turn the last page of Flirting with Disaster, they’ll feel empowered, knowing God’s vision is better than anything we think we want—or are supposed to want—for our lives. When the sister Pete was separated from as a child shows up, Pete must confront a difficult past, and Wilma discovers her long-awaited chance at redemption may come at too high a price.

With Every Memory by Janine Rosche, Revell; June 6, 2023

Owner of Faceout Studio starts new company to address emerging interest for AI solutions

March 4, 2024 by Sheri Toomb

March 4, 2024 — In a strategic move to blend artificial intelligence with book publishing, Hatch Endeavors is announcing various services designed to facilitate publishers in onboarding AI technology safely and efficiently. Hatch Endeavors is a new company launched by Torrey Sharp, an industry veteran since 1996 and current owner of Faceout Studio.

“There’s a growing need for AI solutions that not only drive workflow efficiency but also preserve the core values of the publishing industry. Our approach is to initially keep things simple, seeking to optimize workflow efficiency in various test use cases before pursuing more transformative use of AI. To be clear, we are focusing on workflow. We do not support the use of AI generated imagery on book covers,” says Torrey Sharp.

Torrey’s new company, Hatch Endeavors collaborates with Rebar, a team of digital innovators in Colorado. Their combined capacity will help publishers accelerate their AI adoption by providing them with the tools and expertise they need to get started. Their process ensures each step is purposeful and efficient, regardless of resource constraints.

“We understand everything hinges on the privacy and security of your valuable IP. We will work toward on-boarding clients with the best security measures available and help publishers create custom GPTs to solve distinct needs and challenges,” says Rebar General Manager and Lead Developer, Daniel Nice.

Services include setting up users in a team or enterprise account, departmental audits to determine best test use cases, creating custom GPTs to accomplish specific tasks, training and advanced levels of customization as needed. These service offerings are not just about technological advancement; it’s about cultivating a partnership that respects the art of book creation while embracing the possibilities of the future.
