ECPA names 20 industry “Emerging Leaders” for PubU scholarship & mentorship program
ECPA has announced the recipients of the Emerging Leader program for PubU Online, the industry’s training and networking event for Christian publishing professionals – taking place in a series of daily webinars beginning Wednesday, November 3rd with the debut of the PubU Children’s Book Summit, and continuing in day-long publishing tracks through November 12. Twenty leaders from 12 publishing houses will participate in PubU on scholarship, and have the opportunity to be matched with a mentor.

United Methodist Publishing House safeguards pensions and announces new address
The United Methodist Publishing House (UMPH) announced today that administration of the UMPH defined benefit pension plan will now be managed by Wespath Benefits and Investments (Wespath). UMPH also stated that it has established a home base for its ongoing operations located at 810 12th Avenue South in Nashville, Tennessee.

Andrew Peterson, author and singer-songwriter, will open the PubU keynote session with Jennie Allen on November 4 with a reading from his book, Adorning the Dark: Thoughts on Community, Calling, and the Mystery of Making (B&H). Allen, who is the bestselling author of Get Out of Your Head, will present a session for the ECPA PubU Online and Christy Art of Writing communities, about how to “Free Yourself to Thrive in Your Publishing Mission.” This session will conclude the Art of Writing weekly Thursday series for storytellers and curators and will also open the PubU Online conference for publishers.

Industry’s marketing professionals to meet November 8 for PubU Online Marketing track
On Monday, November 8, the industry’s marketing professionals will meet for four sessions and two networking round tables for the PubU Online marketing track. The program was developed by B&H marketing & publicist specialist Jenaye Merida and WaterBrook’s senior marketing manager, Jamie Lapeyrolerie. Sessions will feature 13 industry experts speaking on:

Illinois State University induct Dr. Mary Manz Simon into Hall of Fame
The College of Education at Illinois State University will induct Dr. Mary Manz Simon ’69 into its Hall of Fame on Friday, October 15 during the University’s 2021 Homecoming celebration. Simon is an early childhood educator whose impact has spread far beyond the classroom. Her books, which are available in 11 languages, have sold more than 3 million copies.
Dr. Mary Manz Simon serves on the ECPA PubU Brain Trust for this year’s PubU Children’s Book Summit to be held online on November 3rd.
