STEADY THROUGH THE NOISE
San Luis Obispo, CA — The Parable Group announces the release of its 2026 State of Christian Retail report, a comprehensive look at the sales performance, category trends, and retailer sentiment shaping Christian retail. Beyond a year-end recap, the report highlights how faith-driven retailers continue to serve as trusted places of hope, truth, and connection in their communities.
Following a near-flat year in 2024, Christian retail sales gained modest ground in 2025, closing the year up 2.27% overall, with the strongest lift arriving in early fall. Even as momentum shifted month to month, customer demand remained steady—reflecting an ongoing hunger for faith-based products and spiritual encouragement.
This year’s report draws from both national sales data and retailer survey responses to spotlight what’s working, where challenges persist, and where retailers are investing in 2026.
Key findings in this year’s report:
- Sales growth returned: Same-store sales finished 2025 up 2.27% after a near-flat 2024 (-1.07%).
- More stores grew than declined: 47% of stores grew year over year, 25% were essentially flat, and 28% declined.
- Bible demand remained strong: Total Bible sales finished 2025 up 5.43%.
- Optimism remains high: 92% of surveyed retailers described their outlook as “Healthy” or “Steady—we will carry on.”
- Inventory challenges continue: 77% of survey responders reported inventory/logistics as challenging.
“In a noisy world, Christian retailers serve as vital outposts of hope and a steady presence for their communities,” said Greg Squires, CEO of The Parable Group. “This year’s growth confirms the hunger for more than just products; people are seeking truth, Bibles, and connection. We are seeing resilient ministries of presence that are lighting the way for years to come.”
