IVP Academic “Working for Better” Coauthors Receive 2026 Outstanding Applied Research Award

September 2026 | LISLE, IL—InterVarsity Press (IVP) is pleased to announce that Working for Better: A New Approach to Faith at Work has received the 2026 Outstanding Applied Research Award from the Religious Research Association (RRA). Coauthored by Elaine Howard Ecklund and Denise Daniels, the IVP Academic title was chosen for its innovation in theory and research, accessibility, and potential for impact.

Ecklund said, “This award is particularly meaningful because it is a prestigious scholarly association and more importantly because the award affirms our desire to see the book use the highest quality research explained in an accessible way that is beneficial to religious organizations and leaders.”

Drawing from over twenty years of research and personal insights, Working for Better, which released in August 2025, presents a groundbreaking exploration of how to express Christian faith in professional settings without compromising beliefs or alienating others.

In a 2025 Rice News article, Ecklund said, “Faith is a window into bigger tensions around ethics, identity, belonging and the struggle to feel fully present at work. Designing workplaces that work well for people of faith can teach us about designing work that works better for everyone.”

Through detailed studies involving focus groups, surveys of more than 15,000 workers, and interviews with over 300 individuals, Ecklund and Daniels identify five key tensions in the faith-at-work movement.

Daniels said, “We call on Christians to bring their faith into the workplace by shifting from an emphasis on talking about our beliefs and defending our own rights to empathizing with those who are religiously different, with a particular emphasis on the imago Dei. This core truth demands different practices and ways of expressing our faith in the workplace.”

With compelling stories and practical applications, Working for Better addresses the need for Christian workers and leaders to adapt to cultural shifts, offering guidance for a more redemptive presence at work. Each chapter concludes with thought-provoking questions for individual reflection or group discussion, making this book an essential resource for anyone seeking to integrate faith with their professional life.

10Publishing and Scripture Union announce new Diary of a Disciple partnership, and forthcoming release

Leyland, England, UK – September 2026.  10Publishing and Scripture Union are delighted to announce a new partnership with the bestselling resource Diary of a Disciple. The new partnership has 10Publishing as the new global distributor for the Diary range. 

It’s almost ten years since Scripture Union released this flagship resource, and since then it has become one of the most widely used and significant children’s resources in Britain. It is now set to reach a global audience through a new gospel partnership with 10Publishing (part of 10ofthose.com).

Baker Publishing Group Authors Take Home Two 2026 ACFW Carol Awards; Several Others Named Finalists

(September 8, 2026)—Baker Publishing Group is celebrating two 2026 Carol Award wins from the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), with Bethany House author Gabrielle Meyer and Revell author Suzanne Woods Fisher both honored this year. The winners were announced during the Awards Gala at ACFW’s annual conference on Saturday, August 29, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Meyer won in the Mystery/Suspense/Thriller category for Every Hour Until Then (Bethany House), edited by Jessica Sharpe. The novel is part of Meyer’s Timeless series, which follows characters who live parallel lives across two different historical eras; the series has sold more than 100,000 copies to date. Meyer is also a Christy Award winner.

Fisher won in the Contemporary category for Capture the Moment (Revell), edited by Andrea Doering. Set at Acadia National Park, the novel is part of Fisher’s National Parks Summers series. Fisher is the award-winning, bestselling author of more than forty books, with over 1.5 million copies sold across her contemporary and Amish fiction titles.

Three additional Bethany House titles were named finalists: A Song in the Dark by Kimberley Woodhouse (Historical Romance), A Star in the West, part of the On a Midnight Clear novella collection, by Karen Witemeyer (Novella), and Hearts in Circulation by Sarah Monzon (Romance).

The Carol Awards are ACFW’s annual recognition of the best Christian fiction published in the previous calendar year, spanning eleven categories and open to both traditionally published and independently published titles. The award is named for Carol Johnson, the longtime Bethany House editorial director credited with launching Janette Oke’s career and championing Christian fiction throughout her tenure in the industry.
